Fighting my first PayPal dispute

Most of my clients went to Stripe. If you get to a high dispute tier you get charged $30 a fee for the customer opening a dispute.

Nah don't wanna :D :D :D gonna f*ck with the clown and see how it goes since it's the first dispute ever and i did bunch of transactions, I don't really care about the 60$ already parted with it :D. If this time PayPal sides with them i will just disable paypal payments on my products as i already have bunch of other payment methods anyway haha
I assume the buyer is not from BHW?

So they will charge me 30$ even for this one or is it if you like reach some % of transaction being refunds?

Sorry dude, but that's not a good attitude of a business man, Just refund him, you'll still have a very low dispute rate and your account would be fine.

With digital products the fight is tough, I remember my first dispute ever there was a guy who bought a necklace, "probably" cut the chain and asked for refund, I just told him to keep it and I refunded the whole amount, It didn't matter at the end and I made way more profits from the shop at the end of month, this s**** doesn't worth the hassle, focus on your business and making more clients and money, or else the outcome of that one dispute may f**** your entire day.

After selling and receiving money on PayPal for years it finally came, my first fake disput that tries to get free stuff. I think i will win it! Updating this thread later hoho

I would say to keep it to you and the customer through PayPal's dispute chat.

If PayPal needs to step in, either because of no agreement between the parties in a certain amount of time, or because stepping in is requested by any of the parties, PayPal now will charge for it, I don't remember if $15 or $25.

They charged me for a dispute because I wanted my statement to be noticed by PayPal so they know the guy was cheating, so I asked PayPal to step in.

I guess this is an "incentive" from PayPal in an attempt for parties to solve the issues themselves when it comes to petty amounts.

I lost the dispute plus fees ($15 or $25) for stepping in, plus $0.49 as a refund process fee that PayPal charges >D
Whatever, I made up my mind about losing once in a while is part of the business.

If you ask how much I lost in that case, it was a little more than $200 of the sale, plus the above fees added.

My point is, if the ebook is less than that amount, it will be worthless fighting it for the money, but worth not allowing them to get away with it if you win the dispute.

It won't fuck up my bad if he wins the dispute I don't care about 60$ lol you don't have to be so agresivne bro

No you will be good. Just don't go higher than 1.5% I believe. One of my clients sells about 3,000 units a month and had supply issues.

And btw what if i just refund, you don't get the 30$ fee?

No. You most likely will not get your original transaction fee back when the customer made the purchase.
You mean like the 30cents or so or the fee paypal charges of like 3-5$?

When I get a dispute it's an instant refund not even worth fighting it for the longevity of the account unless of course, you sell high ticket items then it's a different story.

Ideal way to resolve this is to refund no questions asked.

Escalation to dispute resolution 99% will go in buyers favour for digital product.

What it does it wastes your time & as @Setox already stated above it will affect your dispute rate.

Suddenly one day you receive an email from them regarding the dispute rate and eventually years old account gets closed/banned.

It's my first dispute from selling. Hence if it does goes wrong i will just refund all others in future but won't continue selling w paypal.

This happened to me twice. In my case, I did some freelancing work. I had signed contracts though and PayPal went my way in both scenarios. In the second one, I fucked up a little and they still went my way. Just present all documents and proof , from contracts to chat. If you are selling digital products then it would be a little harder, but I think if you have a website and before purchasing they have some conditions and terms box that clients have to read and check (saying that I won't be scammed and don't try shit with me because I won't give you money back) that should be enough. Maybe I'm the chosen one, but even tho I won the case, I still try my best to avoid PayPal and use Wise.

It's not just about the 60$
they may also disable your account so always refund so you keep their eyes away from your account

These kinda customers are a part and parcel of this business. I would have refunded him.
Once paypal investigate and finds out what you're selling they'd likely shut you down in the near future. They don't like people selling ebooks and specially ebooks that sell making money ideas.
Now it's up to you if you want to keep your paypal account or give your ego a little massage by winning a $60 dispute.
