Hi friends,

Is it necessary to use an expired/old domain to succeed in creating a website with AI-generated content, or can I achieve success with a brand-new domain?
In this case, when selecting an expired/old domain, what are the parameters in Semrush that we need to be aware of?

Thanks.

Not necessary. Think on expired domains as franchising. You don't really need an already established brand to succeed selling goods, but it's sometimes a good headstart.
There are no really good parameter that will help you find such, because many domains are already biased with the wrong incoming links sometimes meant just to boost those parameters artificially.

You could check some metrics like DR from Ahrefs, TF from Majestic or Semrush AS to filter a little bit, and remove the big amount of domains with very poor metrics. But once you have filtered, it's time to go one by one checking manually the linking profile, and seeing which amount of really quality links they have, or if they are built purely on pure rubbish.

Thank you for your helpful answer! It helps me see things more clearly. I know how important it is to check an expired domain's linking profile and look at metrics from Ahrefs and Semrush. Since my main goal for my AI-focused website is to make money through AdSense rather than selling products, do you have any tips on how to decide between an expired domain and a new one?
