growingup tried to hack my accounts

I entered into a JV with growingup for a cpa account. I have never received a check before from the CPA companies so we agreed that I would pay him after the check cleared in my account. Because this is the first time I am receiving a check from USA and I am in the UK the bank informed me that I need to wait for this to clear and it could be up to 6 weeks.

I advised growingup of this and he became angry and demanded I pay him his share immediately. I explained that we had agreed that I would pay when I had the money cleared.

At this point I have had no further contact with growingup except to find out he has been trying to hack into my accounts including my 2 email accounts and my neverblue account on which I had changed the password that I had given him to do the work.

I know this for a fact because what growingup didnt know is that I work for my ISP and he actually tried to request my password be sent to his email address using the online complaints system.

Also I received emails advising me that my Neverblue, Paypal and Gmail account had all had password reset requests sent to them.

I am quite willing to pay him his share of the money as soon as I have it but am really doubting whether he deserves it after this illegal activity.

it's not a matter of whether or not he deserved it, you must pay him what he owes you and keep open communication regarding when the check will be cleared.

i've never heard of a check taking 6 weeks to clear...but it could be a uk thing, idk....i'd try to call the cpa company to do a stop check and see if they can wire you the money.

Why would he do that ? They had agreement on this and sometime it needs just bit of a time. Also my bank tells me it can take months to clear it, though every time i get the money within week or so . Also i would leave him without anything for trying such shit on me. People need to understand that sometimes things won't go as expected ...

My advice is take the high road... stick to the deal and pay the man his money even though he tried to mess with your accounts.

That will give you cred with your next JV and will keep your mind clear... stay true to your word and don't let anyone keep you from keeping your word.

Saying out in the open that you tried to hack someones account. Not a good idea. You have no clue what the other people do on here for a full time job.

as for going into a JV I always say meet in person first. sign a contact and do background checks even with this you still have a chance to get scammed. But a least you did a little checking.

Just let it go and move on.

As I said I srtill intend on paying him his share as soon as I have it in my posession.

The reason the check is taking so long to clear is because it is the first time I have received a check from a different country in a different currency so the back can either pay me and then ask the paying bank for the money, or as they decided they will ask the paying bank for the money and pay me once they have received it.

I just have to wait and so does growingup.

I run into the same situation here in the States. If I deposit a paper check, my bank will ALWAYS make me wait at least 9 business days, before they will credit my account. Doesn't matter who it is from. (Unless it is a check drawn on an account from the same bank as mine.)

Growingup, just gonna have to be a bit patient. Sometimes these things take a little time.

The JV agreement and his hacking attempts are two different legal issues. If there is a binding agreement about the payment you have to pay him after your check cleared.

what bank is this with? i use hsbc for foreign cheques they are cleared in 3-5 days. but i know other banks can be pain in the arse

The bank is Barclays.

They sent me a letter advising they have received the cheque at the international processing centre and it may be upto 6 weeks before payment.

yeh natwest tried doing this to me too. so i left them. my advice would be get a dif acc and use hsbc. they seem to be flat out with foreign cheques
