Finally back in my hacked account after 4 weeks!

Hi everyone,

Just wanted to do an update as I posted desperately asking for help when it happened! Someone in Vietnam managed to hack my account and quickly deleted my email, phone number and associated devices, so obviously I was screwed and was trapped in the stupid cycle of requesting new password, but obviously didn’t have access to that hacker’s email. I tried several email addresses associated with Facebook help and never got a single response.

Anyway here’s how I got back in: I just kept trying! And one day after about 3 weeks the cycle of death changed and they asked me to upload ID as proof, and bam I was in. No idea what changed. The weirdest part is it doesn’t look like the hacker did ANYTHING in 3 the weeks they had my account. Nothing sent to my contacts, nothing duplicated, no scams on Facebook marketplace, I’m pretty sure they never even logged in again cos I had my partner checking constantly. What the hell was the point?!? I’m so done with Facebook and their useless unhelpful bullshit that I deleted my account as soon as I was back in, it was just too traumatic knowing some scammer could see every private message I’d ever sent, facebook can literally go to hell.

Nice, good tip but I suspect you got lucky this time around. It's good you posted about it regardless though, Meta should really fix their account security and such because these are some needless headaches.
 
You're lucky man cause normally I cannot receive any support or ID asking. Just can change password each 3 months for sure
 
They hacked many accounts so they will just keep your account till they need it or find a seller for it

because they have too many users, their system can hardly work properly

Well thats your good luck to got your account back without any mishap. Always use two factor authentication for all your accounts on social media as well as any where you have option for this. One thing more, do check your activity log to see if hacker did anything with your account and then deleted it.

you're in luck but I find that usually accounts that are changed but don't link the ID will not have a chance to get your account back. Have you been trapped in a strange link?

I don't understand what those hackers want from our accounts. My ad account only has a limit of 25 and no Verification Pages :) :)

Usually they will change all your information and replace it with email/pass mail/2fa. Looks like they didn't get anything out of that account.

That's certainly a factor we can't rule out entirely. I think the system is having some difficulty which reports are "legitimate". It's not like they can afford to have a human go through the reports individually.

I will no longer download files from unknown sources online, and use license keys for software
