GDPR questions

Hi all,

Firstly, I'm hoping this is the correct forum for this thread (I couldn't figure out which other section to post it in).

So I have a query about GDPR.

To make it as simple as possible, I have a website (blog on Wordpress) and a forum that has Google Adsense ads on them. Nothing else. What do I need to do to make sure my website is GDPR compliant?

Do I need to have a Privacy Policy on my website? A Cookie Policy on my website? An "accept" or " reject" pop-up on my website. Am I able to copy a default template from somewhere or install a relevant free plugin? Am I better paying for something for this?

I just want to make blog articles daily and have people post on my forum without having to worry about all this GDPR stuff.

I know with Google Adsense, you can turn on a GDPR message that I believe will display on my website for every visitor. Is this enough to make my website GDPR compliant or do I still need to do something else?

I recommend that you use a WP plugin to help you with this process.
These plugins will make it easy to create a privacy policy and cookie policy, obtain consent from users, and give users access to their personal data.

Yeah best to have privacy policy and terms. You need to have setup a consent management solution for GDPR by next Jan for google adsense I think. You should also have someone on your GDPR as the information officer to contact in the event of a breach. Also your business should have a cyber incident preparation plan. These aren't essential, but I think if you ever get asked by GDPR regulators and you don't have them then you look novice and unprepared. The whole point in this regulation was to shift you in the right direction. So if you are not compliment and they inform you they will have a degree of flexibility in a effort to help you resolve things. The big fines are for bad security lapses, and mismanagement of customer data, despite having policies in place.

I saw this plugin, which seems one of the best for Wordpress: wordpress . org/plugins/gdpr-cookie-compliance/

However, at the bottom of the description on all these plugins, it says the following:

"THIS PLUGIN DOES NOT MAKE YOUR WEBSITE COMPLIANT. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ENSURING THAT ALL COOKIE LAW REQUIREMENTS ARE MET ON YOUR WEBSITE."

That's why I'm not sure what exactly I need on my website.

You can use https://policymaker.io/ for free Privacy Policy, about cookies as my knowledge you only need to have a pop up when cookies that you collect save personal information, for adsense, their message should be enough. However it is advised to consult some GDPR professional.
