link to homepage are not counted in google search console

hi guys

do you having the same issue with me where link pointing to homepage/main domain are not listed in google search console?


those 178 links are pointing to post page...i have 0 links to my homepage according to search console, where in reality i have many of them with branded anchor text and they are still alive

but im having decreased trafic ...my other website literally has zero links

I don't know, man. I only said what I know... for a more accurate reply I'd have to dive deep into your situation which I won't do, sorry!

If your traffic decreased it's either...

- a google update, or...
- your pages are cannibalizing on each other and this confuses google and it doesn't know which page to rank first, so it ranks neither, or...
- your pages are orphaned (they have no links and no traffic and this removes them from the SERPs sometimes)

Again, to know exactly what's wrong I'd have to run a deep analysis of your situation and this is both time consuming and pointless for me, I hope you can understand... Just check when the traffic dropped, check whether there has been any google update around that time, check what the update had broken and try to fix, etc... or just run a site audit with one of the many billions of SEO tools and see what they say in terms of CWVs, technical SEO, site structure and topical authority, all this crap... and then fix accordingly... That's as much as I can say without having to fry my brains out trying to figure out what's wrong for your particular case...

But like I said, GSC is almost always delayed and it's never accurate or complete, so don't rely on it, or stress about it too much. If you know for a fact that your site has backlinks to the homepage and you know that those links are live and indexed that's all that matters, you don't have to worry about what GSC shows you. At some point - when you'll have over 1000 backlinks - you won't be able to see them all in your GSC anyway since GSC has a limit of 1000 backlinks that they show, so again, don't stress about it too much! Just keep doing your usual stuff and keep an eye on your rankings, traffic, and revenue as these are the best indicators of you doing things right...

DO complete audit of your site, find out the errors if any and set it right.
Traffic drop can be of any reason, try to figure out where you miss and rectify it

I sold my sites last year, so I don't have 'em anymore. I also don't remember whether the links showed up in GSC, but then again, I never cared about it, so...

I would double check with tools such as Semrush and Ahref! What kind of links are being pointed to your homepage? Are all of them results of ethical link predicament or do they contain any shady-tactic link generation? The latter can be flagged by Spambrain, and if it is the case then you have a serious issue at hand. How do you know? The links will never show up over time.

It's also possible that the links came from a "bad neighborhood" which has recently been flagged, the compound result of which reduced the value of the links to your site to zero!

Same here, made a previous thread about it too. Most of my links have been deindexed on 2 websites. Even links to like YouTube, Instagram, Facebook all gone in the SERP's and GSC.

I bet they are rolling through an update, but things are not going as planned.

Lo stesso qui, ho fatto anche un thread precedente a riguardo. La maggior parte dei miei link sono stati deindicizzati su 2 siti web. Anche i collegamenti a YouTube, Instagram, Facebook sono andati tutti nelle SERP e GSC.

Scommetto che stanno passando un aggiornamento, ma le cose non stanno andando come previsto.

I would suggest you do a full audit of your site, find the errors and take steps to fix them.
Traffic can drop for various reasons. It is worth finding the specific reasons and already think how to solve them

The only anomaly for me is the drop in the number of links
