Hello BHW Fellows,

I had question regarding my case with one of my client site

Currently I'm managing some sites for SEO and had using different method since my client want to use ip address instead of domain name

The progress was going smoothly but right now it's seem Google was confused to choose which url are getting ranked between main page and subpage

All the backlinks are being made to main page right now but sometime Google choosing to rank subpage instead main page

Is there any method to force Google only rank main page such as disallow subpage by using robots.txt ?

There is a feature call Change of Address Tool in the google search console. You can try that feature. I haven't tried it and only seen it in the console. Post here if you find anything good.

Make the page that you wanna rank more interactive. Add more content/images/infographic/video etc. Basically all these things will make the chances of getting ranked. You can also check if your on page is on point. May be try sending some social signals to the page that you want google to give preference.

If your homepage stuffed with many topics and a lot of different content means google will choose the best relevant page. You can not force Google to choose a page you want on SERP. If your experiment goes wrong means you have the chance of losing the ranking of that subpage as well.

take a look at the meta tags that you used in the sub-page and see why google is ranking that over your main page. you can lower the "juice" on your sub-page in order for google to forget about it and just show your home page.

actually from my sight point, G giving more authority for the main page but somehow the search results is showing subpage url for some keywords
for giving social signals, I'm afraid it will got banned soon since my client site is a gambling site :)

all of the "juice" are sent to main page

well the main page is containing informations about the games that can be played on the site, someone had told me to disallow or set noindex on the subpage but I'm afraid it will affecting the whole SEO progress

What's on the main page?

informations about games that can be played on the site :)

Yes, you can disallow the pages which you don't want to rank. And along make the page attractive and SEO friendly which you want to rank.

In that case you won't be able to rank that page as it contains links to posts as opposed to being a standalone blog post. If you want google to better understand your main page, then make sure the page is optimised for whatever keyword you wish to rank it for. Google is ranking your inner page because it's propey optimised and the backlink profile of your main page/homepage is strong.

It sounds like your inner page has more content and is better optimised for the keyword than your homepage.
With regards to your backlinks, even though you are building them all to your homepage that just means the juice is flowing through the homepage to your inner page (this means your internal linking is good) and as a result your inner page is receiving a scaled benefit of your linkbuilding.

I also need a solution. I have two websites My main page is not indexing but the sub-page is indexed properly. I worried about why my main page is not indexing and not ranking on Google. I am also searching for a better answer.

I think you can first write the content with GPT and converts the content from AI to Human. It will work for you to rank your good content.
