My BANS de-indexed

The second BANS site I put up got totally removed from the index. It was looking so good while it was in the index it was showing up on page 1, page 2. I got a bunch of traffic, clicks. And then...

No more traffic. It was in the index for approximately 2 days.

Sure it's not all BANS fault, because I created the site pretty quickly, used unoriginal content, etc. But I'd thought I would just get penalized a little for all that stuff. You know like end up on page 10 or something. And then when I got a chance I would fix it up and work up to page 1. But instead the buggers just removed the site.

I'm pretty sure two other of my recently-submitted BANS sites will also get de-indexed. My first BANS is actually a very good site with tons of original content and a lots of relevant backlinks, but Google put it on page 12! If not for links I wouldn't be getting any traffic.

It's not a competitive niche, and the results that are showing up before mine are totally irrelevant, so I think Google definitely has a thing against BANS. There is a penalty and dont' think that by changing your layout or something you can fool them.

They're not that stupid. And it's not just BANS that they will penalize but PHPBay too (though I have no firsthand knowledge of this). My assumption is that they're seeing which sites have eBay auction listings. It's easy enough to figure that out, whether the links are cloaked or not.

Anyway, I think if anybody wants to make money on EPN, BANS or PHPBay Pro is probably not the way to go right now.

I just started too so I think we're a little late to the game here. Because Google is really cleaning up right now. They're being real dicks about it even if your site is totally awesome and you have ton of great content, just having a few auction listings from eBay will totally screw you .

The next thing I'm going to try (well I still might give BANS a few more tries with different variations) is something I saw with an eBay affiliate that ranked very well for his term, one of the first results on the first page.

What did he do? He just put up a damn blog (on blogspot of all places!), and at the end of each post he has a link to the eBay auction listings for the item discussed in the post.

Seeing as he's one of the top results, Google doesn't have a problem with that. But whatever you do, avoid auction listings on your website like the plague...

Didnt Google and Ebay had a big fight over something in the past? isnt that also the reason why there are no adsense ads anymore on eBay, it is foggy in my head at the moment but there was something about these two giants.

Yeah, I bought BANS last year and then started seeing all these little cookie-cutter BANS ghost towns sitting around the net. Pretty much most of them were nothing but an echo of eBay listings, so with enough of them finally out there on the web Google finally figured out that BANS = eBay spam.

Of course, that isn't true of all BANS applications. If you have a site where the BANS is an incidental add-on you aren't likely to see any effect.

Early last month I started converting my few BANS sites by using the free CARP script (you'll get the same seo benefits) and thankfully I'm down to one BANS site that I'll have converted pretty soon. None of the converted sites were kicked out of the index and I'm working on making real websites out of them.

What really sucks is that lots of folks put in time and energy into research, articles, money, and time on BANS sites and they have been thrown out of Google by the hundreds, if not thousands, recently.

what if you create a blog with nothing but content and then link to the ebay product page you have. ex. hdtv. do a product only page and 30 articles on hdtv. submit one set to article directories. if you submit 10 articles to 20 directories. to u will get a lot of backlinks..

or as the last person stated just get a blog and blend heavy content and procts along with youtube or amazon. basically just do a mashup site?? I am testing too.

that's what i'm going to try. blog with direct links to the ebay auctions. like i said, there's a guy doing exactly this and ranking #2 or 3 on the SERPs.

another possibility is doing the blog and linking to the ebay auctions AND the bans hosted on another domain or possibly a subdomain (can also advertise your bans on your blog with a banner ad). i'm not sure if google will de-index a subdomain but leave the domain alone. anyone know?

in any case, i think it's smart to put all content onto a blog and separate the bans store entirely.

The best way to stay indexed is to remove the footprints of the BANS templates. In other words make them as unique as possible. Then of course you'll need to create some content

You've got a couple of good options. Either a static website will do or wordpress. Just build the pages and paste an ebay feed into the approprate place into the CA**RP script and you've got instant, attractive, ebay listings.

A final suggestion - just cutting and pasting ebay feeds using ca*rp isn't going to do a whole lot of good unless you build some decent content pages and get inbound links, that is unless you're going to do PPC.

Best thing you can do now is build massive amounts of links and over time your site will come back. Google doesn't trust your site yet. Even more so if it's an out of the box BAN's site.
In the future try to buy aged domains. Aged domains have kept my sites out of the sand box. Buy aged domains that have a couple of years on them.

The above is good advice, but not great advice ;-).

You mentioned using non-unique content, I'd recommend starting there. Chances are you're not removed from the index, you're simply in supplemental hell. In short, all your content has been seen before, and since you're not a well trusted, hyper relevant source for this content you got shoved to the back alleys on the internet. Large Link building efforts and continuing to content scrape could result in removal from the index as a spam site.

Sandboxing is more of a growth cap filter to keep link spammers and content scrapers from clogging up the indexes with seemingly unique content and tons of high PR links. It's generally triggered by link/content growth patterns that are abnormally sporadic or large, regardless of domain age.

In short you can't add 5,000 pages and 1,000 links in your first month and then stop; it looks fishy.

That being said, it's highly likely you triggered both a relevancy filter, and the domain sandbox filter, but you're not going to see any good results until you can fix the relevancy issues.
