Hey people
I just wanted to start content writing, and one of the moderators (thanks to them) told me first I needed to make my portfolio.
This is my first post here, and it's about 5 tips to be a successful dinner host.
I would be happy to know your opinions on this, whether it's worthy at all or not, and what I can do to make it better, so I get closer to starting a BST.
5 tips to be a successful dinner host
Being a dinner host can be a challenging job, but it can also be a fun experience. There are some principles that you need to follow, such as being in touch with people of all colors and being a great manager who knows how to control things even when everything is going to collapse!
Here are five tips for being a successful dinner host:
1. Be social
Being social is key when it comes to communication with people, and having a broad knowledge of society, such as knowing different cultures and traditions, is like a bridge that connects you to other people. You can also make connections with lots of different people, which means more people, more money, and more success.
For example, there’s a Spanish family who came into Diana's restaurant, and Mr.Kimble is the dinner host, and he knows a little bit of Spanish from school and Duolingo.
When the family arrived, Mr. Kimble said Hola bienvenido by just saying that he put a smile on the elders of the Spanish family’s face and made them permanent customers, just that simple.
2. Have a positive attitude
The second key is being positive about anything. Just put that big smiley face on and pretend everything is okay, and it's as it should be. People don’t want to see you in a bad or sad mood because your dog died last night, or you just lost a friend in a car accident; what they want to see is a super happy person that is full of great positive energy that’s going to explode from greatness any moment, offering an amazing welcome that touches the deepest part of their heart.
3. the manager of everything
A dinner host seems harmless or a clown to sixty percent of people, but believe me, they are warriors and conquerors of time and management; they know how to manage and control things better than anyone.
A successful diner host is always in touch and can manage all reservations, no matter what.
You must know how to maintain the balance of spending time with customers, which means don’t spend that much time on a single family or spend less time that causes negative feedback from customers; the clock is ticking.
4: Be ready for everything.
Nothing is perfect; you cannot control everything; you don’t know anything; and sometimes things go in a way that they shouldn't, so you have to be ready for the worst situations.
You must know how to deal with unexpected things. Just master the mastery skill of making things up, and don’t panic or lose your focus.
Mr. Kimble was directing customers to their table when he suddenly saw the table was occupied by another family and figured out there was a mistake in the reservation. Instead of standing miserably and blaming the whole restaurant, he just smiled, like it was okay to happen and a manageable thing to do. he just shared a tale of his own experience in the early days when he was hired as a dinner host, he impressed them, and handled the situation like a boss.
5: Having a Good Look
Aside from all of those tips, this one alone can be a game changer: wear the best clothes and shoes you have.
Their first interaction with you is important. When they see you in a great outfit, it's like leaving the best piece of art of yourself in their minds. And don’t forget about the scent you leave, so you need the best perfumes that you can afford because leaving a pleasant scent is like touching their soul without knowing it.
Being a dinner host seems like an easy job to do, but if you understand the responsibilities and challenges that you may encounter in the future, it is a tough thing to deal with. Whether you want it or not, you have to be socially active and have an understanding of society and how it works.
Most people find it hard and frustrating to talk with people, but as a dinner host, it should be a fun hobby to do.
