Being in a spammy niche that often resorts to such tactics, and then gaining one of the top x positions for some lucrative keyword, you'll probably be finding Mr DDOS knocking at your door sooner or later. Use a host/reverse proxy that offers DDOS mitigation services, and if you're using a service such as Cloudflare make sure your server IP is not being leaked via poorly configured subdomains.

You cant anticipate an DDOS Attack, it can happen out of nowhere, but you can block it using Something like cloudflare or Something similar, you can find tutorials on YouTube for free or paid anti ddos services

The best way to avoid getting hit by DDOS attack is to migrate to Cloudfare. And I suppose we should only settle for the best.

Anticipate as in prevent? Definitely don't try to come up with a solution yourself.
Instead, use something that already works. Like cloudflare under attack mode. When the ddos is gone, disable the under attack mode. Also make sure your real IP is not exposed anywhere (like a dns record that you forgot to remove). If they find your IP out, they will bypass CF easily.

Cloudflare can help. But there are things that perhaps you do that will attract ddos problems

Cloudflare Pro + Limit rate to avoid any kind of Layer 7 DDOS like HTTP, GET, POST and such for the rest you shouldn't care much as Cloudflare already hide your real website ip by a proxy.
