Just got accepted to "Pay Per Call" :)

Well, it's not exactly a google tv channel, it's part of the adwords network. They have worked out deals with the various tv networks to put in a bidding system for advertisements. Just like you can place adwords on search results or other websites, you can put your video ad on tv shows.

The night before the show airs, it picks the highest bidder for the commercial spot, and inserts your video clip. So for example, today my spot will run on Food Network to an estimated 10,000 viewers for $40.

Google just approved my ad this morning so i missed the auctions earlier this week. Looks like I'll be bidding on tonight's ad spot auction to be run on the network tomorrow morning.

The channel shows 'Paid Advertising' on at the time it's supposed to air, so i don't expect much of a response from this. It's a $40 spot that i'm using my google adwords $100 voucher to pay for, lol.

Again, i'd be happy to switch out the number on the commercial for anyone else who has the funds to put this commercial out to a larger audience.

Besides google tv ads, where else could I pay to broadcast a 30 second spot like this?

Update on what Im doing, Own a small telemarketing company and buy lists of contractors , job seekers, vacation seekers, etc etc what i do is set up machines to call people and find my leads and direct them back to my payper call numbers. Ive been pulling in a few hundred a day doing this. If anyone is intrested in learning more pm

I had him do a small test run for me last night. He got about 20 calls to my number and of that 3 of them paid out. Most people hang up within the first 30 seconds, all calls came from the same state and were a good mix of mobile and landline callers.

His method definitely gets people to call. I don't know if I consider it blackhat, but there's definitely a grey tone to it.
He says he is checking numbers against do-not-call registry and lets people unsubscribe.
I will definitely keep this in my bag of tricks.

If there's anyone out there that has already been accepted, but is struggling to get calls to their #'s, this could be a good way to get you started.

I just noticed a new pay per call program popped up in the find campaigns page today. It's a service that matches students to schools. The possibilities on this one are endless, especially for you BH'ers. It pays $10 per call ( >1.5 min )

nice find on the new student campaign, now its time to figure out how to make $$ from it...as far as the commercial I prob was gonna just use it in case the ppl at CJ or LS were bitching to me how i am promoting the numbers..

I just tried running Microsoft AdCenter ads with my Phone # in the ad, but apparently they don't allow the number to be anywhere in the ad, unless its a company number like 800-flowers. Anybody know of a way around this? Does Google or Yahoo allow phone numbers in their ads?

I tried Admob click to call ads. It seemed to be working at first, then my $50 balance was gone and all of the ads were used up. of the 423 'clicks' (on a click to call ad) that Admob claims to have delivered, CJ only accounted for 7 of the calls.

I think admob is a sham, I have no idea why google bought them. A bunch of you BHers probably have click bots on your iphone apps or something blowing through their ad inventory.

Is anyone else on this thread still having success with newspaper ads?

Been noticing a lot of advertisers cutting the commission rate on calls. We need some better advertisers on RingRev!

Me either. Just cannot figure out what's up with the job angle.

It certainly would be great though.

However, if it's not on the up and up and the advertiser complains about too many off-the-topic calls from the affiliate's number, it could cause account suspension.

Can't see how any employer needs ppc to advertise jobs. If they do, the job probably ain't worth it.

I just applied for a new education-related ppc and it looks promising.

I'm surprised there aren't more advertisers by now. I kinda fear many of these programs will not be long-lasting. Already, one I got accepted into has been terminated. And rightly so. I called the 800 number to test it and the reps sounded like they had just won the PLATINUM Prize in the "Biggest Scam Telemarketer Contest."

cool....when you talk to the operator do you make it seem like you really are interested or do you tell em what you are doing..i would not want to get introuble or banned by cj for wasting the operators time lol

Have a friend call the number to do a true test.

I commented above about an awful experience in talking to a couple tele reps at one of the ppc advertisers. I wouldn't want to spend any time promoting it with complete arses taking the calls and chasing away the callers.

But as I mentioned, they are no longer listed as a ppc advertiser. Gone just that quick.

i would be careful doing anything blackhat with this. the people that call in could tattle on you. its different than sending them to offers online. i am using this for strictly whitehat purposes. i am promoting all state insurance to my customers. i will report how it goes.

Lucky you. I wanted Allstate so bad, but they just won't approve me. And I have a finance-related blog where my visitors might actually want auto insurance quotes.

I'm sure most know that CJ doesn't permit Craigslist advertising. And vice versa, CL has contempt for affiliates. You could be dethroned by both in a heartbeat. So, you better know how to work around it. If not, leave it to the pros. If it were that easy and profitable, everybody would be doing it.

souldemon, I have been paid for last month's campaigns. In my experience the tracking is in realtime. if you dig into the stats you can get to a level where you can actually see the duration of each call. Check there to see how long the calls were and then check the advertiser details to see how long they need to be to get paid. Silly, but I have to ask, your commercial played during a time when the callcenter was opened, right?

If you don't mind me asking, how many 'viewers' does your local cable station estimate during the timeslot your ad played? Was it just a one time ad? Did you use google adwords tv or just set it up locally? How much did it cost to run the ad? What video clip did you use? just text? 15 sec? 30 sec?

I made a test call myself to Angie's list and received a commision instantly, so I know that the tracking is live.

I'm thinking of placing a local ad in the paper for 30 days, and seeing what results I get. Anybody else try newspapers?

I figured my calls were not lasting the two minute minimum time. The call center is open 24/7 but they are direct and to the point to avoid any brow-beaters. My ad rang twice during a 30 minute show (about 15 sec. shots graphic ad) to a targeted audience of about 100k per night. I need to figure how to tweak my ad so that I get actual buying clients and not just people wanting more information. I see the potential in this so I will definitely continue to play around with the offers. I'm going to be doing something this weekend with my second campaign
