Does PBN still work and is it worth the trouble?

I remember how PBN used to be pitched but never tried it. I think it was considered black hat. Does it still work today? Is there any way to do it without jeopardizing our online assets?

I've never owned a PBN, so my answer might be disregarded, but I'll still say it (and mostly because I want other people to chime in)... yeah, I think PBNs still work.

But then again, what I consider to be a true PBN (just a bunch of money sites), some SEO experts consider them to be only money sites. For some of these guys PBN means a lesser quality blog (at least that's what PBNs used to be in their heydays), so the opinions are split, because lesser quality PBNs require more work than classical PBNs, and they might still not work as well as they used to, so yeah... it could be a 50-50 split.

But like I said, my personal opinion is that they still work, but only if you treat them as money sites

Really interested in this topic so will be watching from what I've read what people are selling as PBN links are likely to ruin your sites so I think you need to go it alone or with a trusted group.

If you need to ask, and your worried about it, then you probably aren't ready to handle the requirements yet. As you have to plan carefully, and be careful with PBNs. I would stick to tried and tested forums/web 2.0s and guest posts, and maybe even good pbn/guest post links from the marketplace if you can afford them.

A good domain with well rebuilt website on a PBN host is probably the 2nd best link you can have, after a top class natural niche relevant. As its all under your control, and hopefully relevant and as long as you manage it well, a few in a busy blogs backlink portfolio will go unnoticed.

Don't mind me asking, with chatGPT and all the AIs evolving, do you think it is possible to build a classical PBN with more ease? Will that make it less of a Black Hat? And, do you think it'll then be worth the effort?

I think it's easier to make PBNs, yes... but if you don't manage to rank them there won't be much value to it

nope. Black Hat means breaking google's rules and google doesn't want anyone to manipulate their SERPs, but PBNs are created SPECIFICALLY to manipulate the SERPs, so as long as you use PBNs (in whichever form, it doesn't matter) you're black hat-ing..

And, do you think it'll then be worth the effort?

I don't know anymore to be honest. Back (3-4+ years ago) when links mattered the most PBNs were a treasure trove, but I've been out of the SEO game for over an year now, so I'm not up-to-date with what's working anymore.

I think this questions is better answered by backlink sellers (provided that they're unbiased, of course) since it's their bread and butter

Personally I've seen insane SERP movements even for 40-50 KD keywords using PBN links. So, on a personal note, I've firsthand experience of seeing them work.

From a common sense perspective, as long as you're sincere enough to choose good PBN service that knows how to protect their footprints and uses high metric expired domains, you'll always shine with PBN links.
