[Help me!] How to add a search function that search a table and show results...

Guys please help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I need a simple search function/bar, that is, a big search bar in the middle of page, then a user can input a name(or ID numbers) to see if this name got qualified or not in our database, if yes, the result page will show its name, and other details, and if not, it will say something like, this person is not qualified, blahbla, can any plugins do this? I am pretty sure there should be a plugin can do this, just I can't find it!

this plugin can do this but when I followed that shortcode, nothing happens, must be sth is wrong, I hate to say that almost all plugin authors never explain their plugins well to users, what were they thinking?! How come possible a non tech person figure out the complicated plugin settings while there are even no guides on these fxxking hidden features? Gotta ask at the public forum though...

Got no Chatgpt on my hand right now, also I don't think it can generate the right Wordpress PHP/plugin codes since I also have some other tiny requirements.

and you you want specific try to custom the ajax search and triger on blank template that result.

You can simply create a custom php page template. i don't know the specifics of what you need but here is it what you need to do.

Create a custom page template in php with a search bar and submit button.

Simply add the functionality to connect with the current mysql database and search a column to see if a value exists or not.

This can be achieved with a simple if and else statement.

This will help you to achieve the most accurate results.

It should be very simple for a coder I know it, sadly I am not, so I have a hard time to implement these myself, I am pretty sure there are plugins can do this function, just, I need to find it out. Anyway, thanks for the tips guys.

The plugin I found from this thread is very very close to what I am looking for, just, there are some tiny problems, I tried to contact the author but he is not very cool and a bit reluctant to help, though he indeed gave me some tips.

After tinkering a bit, now I still have 2 problems and waiting for his reply via email.

Meanwhile, one of these I guess it is easier to solve, its a CSS related problem, maybe someone could give me some help if he knows how to solve this:

As you can see, it got an empty square which is annoying, I tried some CSS code online in order to hide it, I see the selector is:

#participants-list-1 > table > tbody > tr > td

This can indeed hide the empty, but the search result also disappeared! ( input "terry" then you can see the result sample), I guess this result is also included in that td element.

So in this case, how to hide this useless blank while keep the result unaffected? I am all ears if anyone knows the trick, thanks!
