Total Keywords Increase but 50% Drop in Traffic, Why?

Hello, I have been seeing a sharp decline in traffic for my site starting about 5 days ago. When I check ahrefs tho, the total organic keywords have been going up, and top 1-3, 4-10 and 11-20 have been staying about the same, in fact there is a very small increase of keywords ranking 1-3. There seem to be no algorithm change recently. The only thing I can think of is the start of summer break, the other thing I can think of is Father's Day weekend, but that doesnt make much sense because the decline started 5 days before Father's day. Has anyone seen this kind of decline before and any idea where to check for the cause? I have been making almost no changes to the site for about 2 months except for updating wordpress plugins...

There is a chance that If your competitors made changes on their websites or their SEO strategies so that it will drive traffic away from your site. because they may get preference after such changes

Penalty is still an option. Just because there is no official update in this time, it does not mean there cannot be any penalty.

i checked and there's no manual penalty recorded. is this kind of drop normal? It looks very unnatural to me even tho it is a start of a slow season apparently... Also, if some someone else outranked me, or somehow I get punished by google, then shouldn't I see a drop also in number of keywords ranking 1-10 at least? I don't understand...

If your site was penalized, both keywords and traffic would be entirely lost.

Go back to the page driving the most search traffic and check their individual search performance, you'd see their positions has changed.

My belief is Google is shuffling search results again and stuffing their search results with more messy ads and distracting junk.

Hey, I'm way worse than you.

I ordered a huge bulk of articles (written by native English writers) and put it up... I spent a lot of time (images, interactive videos, etc) and money. And now that site disappeared from this update.

Top ranked keywords remains about the same, total keywords at all time high...but traffic looks like a tragicomedy. It feels like the end of the world...

It might be because of your competitors override, thats why you lost your audience searching you.
Also, update your content if needed now and then to saty updated in users' perspect.

Your site could be penalized temporarily, maybe you should give it some time to recover.
