Hello, I linked a PBN to my site using general anchor text (click here) on 6/6/23 and it dropped from page 3 to page idk maybe 7. Does this mean the PBN is no good/ should I remove it? or should I wait a little longer to see if it bounces back?

Thanks

I would give it 1-2 weeks to see if it bounces back.

Also, I find it hard to believe that 1 link (a PBN, too) caused so much damage, something else must be off... How much did the backlink cost, though? I'm really curious...

You have to give it at least a month
Where did you get the link from?

How much you paid for 1 PBN link?
I did not pay someone to do it. I did it myself. I purchased an expired domain (moz DA 29) and ahrefs shows it has 57 domain websites linking to it and none look like spam (sex, drug related). I added over 1000 words of content on the home page and linked it as "click here".
This is the first pbn fyi. There are a few other backlinks but mostly citations and blog comments.

oh, the domain might be penalized then. Did you check its previous content in WBM for asian / adult / gambling content?

It could also be that you've linked to your site too soon, Nargil usually recommends to let the expired domain sit idle for several months after you recreate its previous content and only then redirect / link to your money site. I don't know how important this step is, it's just what I've picked up from him, so I believed this unconditionally lol

yes I did check, it looked clean. Oh I didn't know you were supposed to do that?

Also I checked google console positioning and everything was fine until 6/12 it dropped from 28 to position 77.

You should wait 3-4 weeks first and check later.

if nly because 1 pbn and your ranking is drop i dont its from the PBN,maybe from robot txt?
and try to change your anchor to your keyword so its look relevan with the article that you make for the backlink.
example "register SEO course here"

and try to check the SPAM Score of the PBN link that you have on moz. if more that 18 dont use it.

if you need good backlink with HIGH DA PA 80+ let me know and chat me :)

what is robot txt? the pbn's spam score is 11%.
I did a general anchor text to not make it look like spam since this is the 1st pbn.

Ok I will wait. do you think it will spring back up?

Thanks both for your reply

Might be dancing now , you can wait some while it will get static position , and don't go for bulk links at the same time . Try to do link building in dripfeed manner

One link can't do so much of harm and that too within such short span of time after it was placed. We all want Google to be that quick but it's not, right. If you ask me, remove it and see the reaction or make it nofollow to see what Google does.

Actually 1 PBN is not good Enough or bad enough. But if you want to see the better result you need take some more and wait for 15 days. Try to take from root domain also from homepage it will be defenetly gives you some dancing

Probably your anchor text I have noticed recently exact anchors are tanking rankings, generic or naked url or long tail is better

Add a link from this PBN to another domain and see if it drops too.

It has nothing to do with the pbn link.

If you could tank a page with 1 pbn link then neg seo would be RIFE.

Imagine.. Just buy some toxic expired domains and send them to your competitors and boom, they drop.

Doesn't work like that :-)

Neg seo does work, but it's difficult and requires consistent effort and 1000's of links.

1 link will never drop a page.

This is just normal dancing you're seeing.

1 link from a toxic domain pbn can hurt. Of course it depends on the money page, if it is very strong then You are right, it will not hurt.

Never. This is pure misinformation. I've dealt with 1000's of pbns.

New links can cause a dance, but that's not a drop.

An actual toxic link google just ignores.

Think about it. If you really can hurt people with 1 link then why don't you dominate every niche in the world? Just send that link to everyone ahead of you in the serps and boom, you're winning.

The only damage you can get from low quality pbns is a manual action penalty if you've gone overboard, but even then google tend to avoid this these days as neg seo is rampant and it's so easy to just spam your competitors, report them and get them removed.

Also, there is NO such thing as a 'toxic domain'. This is another silly SEO myth.

Google doesn't have some register for toxic domains. Domains have varying levels of topical authority and juice. If a site is 'toxic', it just means that it has no juice, and a link will do nothing.

I'm even using the term 'toxic' above, but I'm meaning it in the sense of a "bad domain", not "toxic" as in some flag that google has added to a domain to make it dangerous if it links out. This would just be stupid and make neg seo way too easy.
