Got Scammed on BTC - Any Ways To Return It?

Good morning, BHWians. Probably not good for me, but hope for others its better

We have f***ed up a little and sent $6K to a scammer with BTC. We have sent the money like three weeks ago, but now we realised that we had made a big mistake)

Actually the last time I was in such kinda situation maybe in my long time ago twenties, when I was robbed near some nightclub [being absolutely drunk af]. Now Im feeling like I just got back to my "youth years"

The question is - how to get the money back or find these ******* crooks at least? Im not an expert in crypto, but I know that the btc is kinda open blockchain and I can see their btc address and all the addresses they have sent the money to. But what can I do with these addresses? Is there a way to identify their personalities through it?

Also, is there a sense to go to a local police dept? Asking this, cuz I know that usually police do not help too much with such kinda situations, but maybe someone had positive experience

All in all, I will be thankful for any suggestions or advises

You will not get your money back but i think maybe it's possible to report the person to an exchange that he's using

Money is unrecoverable

Legal bodies wouldn't get involved over just 6k, especially if it was a crypto scam

As for tracking their identity you'd have better luck going at it from a different angle. Contact info, social media accounts, etc. Bitcoin is public but anonymous. If it was 6 or 7 figures it could be tracked to an exchange who would be court ordered to give up information, but only if the scammers were sloppy.

Sure, you contacted somehow. Its possible that police can track him down in many ways. You probably wont get your money back, but you may get justice.

Try to report it to the police (both the one from your country and the one from his country, maybe it will track down the scammer), but there is almost no chance to recover the money.

I work for one of the biggest crypto platforms, and I deal with scams every day. There's no chance in hell of you getting it back. It's pointless reporting it to a governing body too. Draw a line under it and move on would be my advice; time is money after all.

So, it is clear that you voluntarily sent the Bitcoin(s) and LATER found out that the receiver is a scammer. Therefore, your Bitcoin(s) were NOT stolen (NOT hacked, etc).
Considering the above, nothing can be done. Such scammers know how to safely move around and store or cashout their Bitcoin (or crypto). Moreover, Bitcoin transactions are irreversible.
Just take this as a lesson learnt and please be alert now onwards. Before you make any payment to anyone, do your due diligence and research.

If you can track the person that scams you. possible
what you can do, is track the address and see where your coin ends up. a lot scammers just sell it on CEX.
if it is then you can call the CEX and authority for help.
but if he uses Monero or spinner service, then you can only track him from another method like how you contact him before. email etc
