I want to do freelancing and my main problem is that I have no idea how to sell my service to people. What's the best book for principals you can recommend, I know it is all about volume and getting reps in but like I said I don't even know the game that I am playing.

Two books that helped me the most when I was starting out are 80/20 sales and marketing by Perry Marshall and Cashvertising by Eric Drew Whitman. Both deal a lot with how to convert (or sell) anyone with anything you might be offering. It takes some practice to implement the new way of thinking but it's absolutely worth it once you start getting those conversions. Highly recommended if you want to learn the fundamentals.

The Sales Bible" by Jeffrey Gitomer is a must-read for beginners, covering fundamental techniques and strategies for sales success.

There's a book that I always recommend to people just getting involved in sales. It's very common. How to win friends & influence people by Dale Carnegie.

Another few good reads to get you started are:

Challenger Sale by Matt Dixon
Predictable Revenue by Aaron Ross

I linked Amazon links just to give you an idea of what the books look like, etc.

If you dont know how to sell, dont bother trying it is not in your nature and that will come across.

Instead, try to build relationships.

If you're new to sales and looking for a good place to start, The Psychology of Selling by Brian Tracy is a terrific place to start. It covers the fundamentals of sales and delves into the psychology of why people buy. It also provides practical tactics for developing client connections and completing sales. Furthermore, Dale Carnegie's How to Win Friends and Influence People is a classic read that focuses on interpersonal skills and communication, both of which are important in sales. Whatever book you select, keep in mind that practice makes perfect, so apply the ideas you learn to real-life scenarios to develop your sales talents.

One of the best book on sales I've read probably has to be Cashvertising.

For sales psychology I'd 100% recommend Influence by Robert Ciaidini.

I've always been meaning to read that one, been on my shelf for quite some time now. Perhaps it's time to crack it out.. ;)

"To Sell Is Human: The Surprising Truth About Moving Others" by Daniel H. Pink
This book is not just for traditional salespeople but for anyone who needs to persuade others in their work. It provides a fresh look at the art and science of selling, offering a wealth of insight into the modern landscape of sales.

I agree, 80/20 Sales and Marketing is one of the greatest marketing books.

Its a good advice for others also

There are so many.

Influence is a good place to start. It’s a classic for a reason and though it’s not directly a guide to selling it will help with a lot of the underlying psychology. A lot of people have made a lot of money from reusing this book. Cialdini’s other books are interesting but not to the extent of influence.

Then I would look at cashvertising and brainfluence. In these two books you will see the principles from Influence put into practice.
Cashvertising draws heavily on Ogilvy as well which is a good thing and although a little dated Ogilvy on advertising is still a worthwhile read.

If you are are going to be consulting then SPIN Selling by Rackman is a good framework.

You can try The Freelance Manifest by Chris Guillebeau or Freelancer Nation by Daniel Pink

Icarus Deception by Seth Godin

I can't really say it's an academic book, but it pushes some of the main philosophies I truly believe are related to marketing and sales. The book basically tells you to just follow your instincts. While many people don't really have a sales logic, many more tend to think reading a book and applying everything it states will get you anywhere.

Don't get me wrong, theory learning is important, but to me, experience and following your guts is more important.
