What Is Your Worst Bad Habit?

spending a lot of money

Watching fantasy girls' reels I never get bored. They are very sensual and attractive.

Mine has been Maladaptive Daydreaming for very long time... though I'm improving on that one greatly. used to have social media problems like YouTube and Twitter but monk mode/no surf/dopamine detox "challenges" helped a lot, still struggle sometimes but after 1-2 weeks I can pull myself off and continue my ascetic ways lol. Extensions help too

Overcoming apathy too, day by day. Used to have huge apathy/nihilism problems... have been accepting meaninglessness of life for past 9 months and it's kinda freeing, no burden of meaning, no burden of achieving greatness as it's all objectively irrelevant and meaningless both in time and space/present, just build good life, do some projects, avoid unnecessary suffering and yea... that's all it is to it...

I'll start with myself, my worst bad habit is Spending a lot of time on youtube.

Watching too much youtube for sure.

Youtube, spend lot of time there at least 6 hours per day.
Biggest thing that will help: Don't use YT on phone, delete it. Only use it on PC/laptop. No compromises on that one, vow that once you delete it you will never download it or open it on mobile browser, no matter what.

After that get DFTube, it cleans off news feed and when you log in it's blank page, also it blocks recommended videos that's on the right side of the video (extension is free so it's not an ad lol). another free extension is "remove YT thumbnails" it blurs the thumbnails, unhooked is another nice extension that can hide side bar that shows people you subscribe, trending videos and all that. It can also hide notification icon.

Vow to only watch educational vids/podcasts that are at least 30 min long, anything less than 30 min and don't watch. That helps a lot too to cut down all the bs videos (you can adjust this or make exceptions like if it's very very high quality channel you can say "okay only on this channel I will watch 10 min videos) oh and just never click on "shorts", vow on that.

If non of this helps then do no surf/monk mode/dopamine detox for 1 month or more (basically only work on your biz, health, offline relationships, read books, think/ponder, etc but no entertainment at all when it comes to internet... internet will only be used for productivity) that stuff is lifechanging, lifts off brain fog, makes life better, makes you 5-10x productive and genuinely more content with life but it's easy to return to addictions after it's over, so you have to "sacrifice" some forms of internet entertainment for good (it's not even sacrifice as quitting them makes life better but at first can feel like that)

Damn sorry for writing text wall lol but I feel kinda passionate about this subject, I hate all this social media apps trying to hijack our attention to make money on it, longer we stay more money they make... making our life worse off, full of brain fog and no productivity, they use all this tricky methods, fck em lol

Good luck frens

Stop: Fapping

Continue: Doom Scrolling on the internet.
Newsfeed eradicator extension is good for Twitter, Reddit, FB does same thing as DF tube that I mentioned above, turns newsfeed into blank page. Also same here as with YT, delete these apps on phone only use them on PC/Laptop and never ever download them on phone no matter what. That will reduce scrolling by like 50% alone lol. Good luck

Can't delete YT on phone using android. Already on 7hrs screen time right now without any meaningful action. This is my biggest drawback.

Used to be same way, I have android too and wasn't able to delete but then I went in Setting -> Apps -> YouTube -> Disable, so YT is technically still in phone but it's disabled so there's no icon of it anywhere

What helped me was, I vowed that no matter what I won't enable YT and won't use YT in any browser on phone, no matter the situation. Because yea it's so fcking addicting...

Try to disable it and vow to never enable it, just use laptop or PC for YT with DF Tube and other extensions.

Now bigger problem could be that even with extensions, no phone usage on YT and all that, you may still end up spending tons of time on YT but on laptop or PC.

In that case I think you will have to cut out "video types" like whatever video types you waste your time most, try to fully cut it out. It could be shorts, reactions, anime edits, live streams, music, non-educational podcasts, etc... just cut those bs out and only watch relevant educational long videos, even better if you watch them on planned time.

Other thing that helps is to just try to avoid any vid that's less than 30 min, sure maybe if there's very educational YTber who posts high quality useful 10-15 min vids on the niche thing you're interested in, make exception with him but on everyone else don't watch any vid under 30 min

If you're tired/have nothing to do and just want to watch something, watch really high quality podcasts (Andrew Huberman, Diary of CEO, Cal Newport, etc there's tons of education podcasts out there on many topics) like ones that actually deliver value for time spent and help you grow/learn more. + if you have biz idea, allow vids on that too...

Basically Youtube should become personal library instead of entertainment platform

All those "rules" above will cut down so much YT usage... you may find yourself wasting time on other social media tho, in that case apply same type of logic until all of them are "subdued" and turned into personal library of valuable quality content (ironically that could be more stimulating for brain than some low quality entertainment vids)

Never allow shorts even if its from fav YouTuber shorts never deliver any ounce of value, it's pure casino algorithms

If nothing works just do some dopamine detox, monk mode type thing for 1 month+ to "rewire your mind" and if it works just never go back to bad habits

After some iterations one of those strategies end up working

Sorry for text wall lol but that's most of the key points of experience I got in last 3 years of fighting against this shitty algorithms of soc media/YT (if I just said "disable YT" I don't think that would have been enough as this problem goes way deeper than just phone vs PC usage on 1 app)

(Also by no means am I professional or anything, if I come out little too "sure" ignore it lol it's just list of what worked for me after tons of iterations and tries/fails and if I'm not careful I go back to rut so yea...)

Good luck fren

My OCD + Internet : a storm of bad habits you don't wanna know about.

I deeply appreciate this post. You won't believe since making this post things have gone worst for me, not only YouTube but Twitter, and Porn.

Since 2017 to this day, I haven't gone a week without porn at least 3 out of 7. days.

Every time I try to create a new routine to make changes, I get excited early and ended up going back to default on the third day.

I have spent lot of money on course, and I am yet to earn $1k in a month. My highest earning is $250 on Amazon (kdp). The account eventually got terminated which took me back to square one.

I have no skills to sell (currently learning copywriting by hand writing it) nor any degree to find a job.

Sorry for the rant.

I truly appreciate the advice.

man I'm gonna be 100% honest and I'm surprised it hasn't appeared here till now but smoking...
it just sucks and it's really just a habit now but I can't seem to stop

Damn man that's tough :/

Since 2017 to this day, I haven't gone a week without porn at least 3 out of 7. days.
There are couple methods that could work tbh. Like one way would be to do step by step, so instead of quitting porn for good do:
Step 1: 3 day challenge and then relapse
Step 2: 5 Day challenge and relapse
Step 3: 7-10 day challenge
Step 4: 14 day
Step 5: etc...
Step x: finally, quit for good and don't relapse even once because if you do you will be back to step 1, as your brain will go chimp mode lol

and so on... like slowly increasing the time without porn (you may get stuck on like step 3 for a month but that's still a progress, just make sure to NEVER relapse before the set date, not even once because if you do then all this steps will be meaningless as you will know "oh I can relapse any time why wait for 7 days)

I personally do better with cold turkey approaches in life like "fck this, I'm not doing this anymore ever, I'm tired of this" but for some step by step works better. See whatever works but you gotta improve it for sure one way or another.

Best thing to do is to try always and after lot of iterations you will have enough data on yourself + enough experience to get good streak and quit porn... basically compound effect

Also maybe it's a fetish problem? in that case start watching different type porn, like only watch amateur POV and nothing else... that's the "healthiest" type of porn (all porn are bad but that one's the least problematic)

Every time I try to create a new routine to make changes, I get excited early and ended up going back to default on the third day.
I think sooner or later one of them will stick, as long as you don't quit. Most important is to be so done with current situation that you get huge momentum/motivation and you ride with it...

Like Being sick of it -> Try new routine -> fail -> try -> fail...... -> getting lot of experience from all the tries and getting even more sick of current situation -> eventually you get to the point where you have decent experience and know thing or 2 about yourself -> routine sticks for long term because of right approach, being sick of it and good non vague system in place that you actually take seriously and follow through-> maybe eventually that will fail too and you will have to find another approach ->....

Tough process but don't quit fren, more you try more you accumulate/compound the experience and being sick of it. Just make some good system of habits (google, watch good YT vids on those topics too and take tons of notes, who knows maybe you will find some gem)

I have spent lot of money on course, and I am yet to earn $1k in a month. My highest earning is $250 on Amazon (kdp). The account eventually got terminated which took me back to square one.

I have no skills to sell (currently learning copywriting by hand writing it) nor any degree to find a job.
I'm new so can't say anything about that but from what I have observed it takes consistency on 1 good method to eventually make some money + skill building (but yea I'm noob on this one so take this with grain of salt lol)

I have been thinking about copywriting too, what advice would you give on that? what's the best most efficient way to learn it? also have heard that ChatGPT is solid on copywriting, as long as you have good prompts, is that true from your experience?
Sorry for the rant.

I truly appreciate the advice.
Nah it's fine, if there's any place to rant it's anonymous boards lol no one will judge + know your real name and all that

No problem fren

i feel like if i do something and nobody knows about it either i done it wrong or it was a waste of time

helps me keep on track, feels like cheating, feels bad

and i love a roll your own, nicorette and crackign down on sugar is going well though
bad habits

I'm a little bit lazy lately, I can no longer work for long periods of time like I used to.

It's like I'm lacking motivation to put in the effort like I used to.

I have 3 kids so time is never enough as well.
