Hello...

When building backlinks I can read everywhere that it is suggested to direct them to other sites and redirect them with a 301...

Example:

I want higher the PR of www.xxxx.com
I create the site www.yyyy.com
I put the 301 on www.yyyy.com to www.xxxx.com

Well... will it create just traffic because all the people that click on www.yyyy.com will be redirected to www.xxxx.com or it will also higher the PR?

If the PR will higher... whose PR will higher, xxxx.com or yyyy.com?

yyy doesn't really exist, it is just a gateway to get to xxx, so xxx would be getting the PR

and if the redirect is a 302 instead of 301? No difference or google will save yyyy?

With a 302 I'd say yyy would be getting the PR since you are telling google that it is just temporary

The only way this has proven to be a very successful trick is when you place the 301 on a domain that is aged, already has pr and was once an actual site. Doing this with a newly bought or totally undeveloped domain is just pointless, a waste of time and somewhat retarded.

I personally direct all comments back to the actual site. Have always done this, never been set back and it has been quite successful fir me.

Don't fear google. If you hit a sandbox, get some of the other projects completed. You will most likely bounce back in a short time and rank better than ever. Can't be afraid of the dark forever.

I am not afraid of BH, but I thinks it's the same as law. If you don't know the law and BH you can get in trouble.... "if I don't know, I read and ask".

And the reason why I am asking this is a storm of thoughts in the last few minutes concerning the following....

Why would google redirect traffic and all the good to xxxx from yyyy... and in case of bad (sandbox, ban, whatever) the one affected will be only yyyy?

well no, I can't guarantee it. no one can. I have always done it with old sites that have pr, indexed pages and lots of backlinks. When the next pr update I get a good best.

About 5-6 months ago I took a pr4 site I bought on DP for cheap. I had a brand new domain that was in a semi-related niche. PR update rolled around and I got a pr3. No promoting, no link building, nothing. Only thing I did was place a redirect on the pr4

I am running a forum which is PR1 right now, and I get few tens of people reading everyday and somebody registers and writes once on a lifetime (once a month if I am lucky).

Do you think that going to PR2 and PR3 with the same content (little, about 100 threads) the visitors will increase?

IF you 301 a domain, and say a year later don't renew it.. someone else renews it
Will you lose the link juice that you had on the 301 domain?

Digital point. I buy old crap sites with pr and high backlinks on there all of the time just for this.

probably a little, but, if after a year passes and your site can't stand on its own two feet, you're doing something wrong.

TeddyD, when you buy a site you will get all the rights to that site? I mean... you will get the access to the control panel of the provider and change the settings? Eg. DNS?

Honestly, you shouldn't stare yourself blind at PR.
It's viritually pointless.
With that said, What seo have you done for that forum?
Try ranking for higher traffic keywords..
Make your own users and make threads so the forum seems active..

Other than that i can't give any tips.. I havn't started a forum myself, but i know as a USER, a dead forum is very unappealing.

no when you buy a site you should get the domain and files to the site. you will host it yourself. Add the domain to my host and redirect it.
