stripe could close account... true?

started ecommerce business some weeks ago.
one friend of mine told me that stripe could close the account and keep my money...

this happened to him with 5.5k and he lost his funds.

do you know what kind of behaviour by the seller may lead to the account closing?

Obviously they can shut your account and witheld your money for months.

They are more open-minded / tolerant of sellers.
 
Yes this is possible, I lost $1.8k with stripe and $600 with BMAC (their partner comany) buymeacoffee. Stay away from these scammers or INSTANTLY withdraw the funds as they come.

None of this is safe unless you are doing legit business. Even if you are doing legit business, you can still risk account closure if your refund or dispute rate is high.

If you are running blackhat business, it is better to use crypto as payment option. However if you really need to do card payment, try payway from Cambodia. You might need to visit their branch in person do give some coffee money to make things work for your interest. Use this option only if you are already earning big.

Crypto is the safest, although if you use coinbase or binance they will crackdown on you for doing illegal stuff for which stripe crackdown on you on the first place.
Not you like whoever is selling illegal stuff.

Any exchanges will not be safe nowadays as worldwide Govt clamps down on Crypto. The best way is to use P2P to exchange cryptos. A pity that localbitcoin has shut down.
 
In 2021 and 2022, Stripe was HEAVILY used (misused) by scammers who set up their fake ecommerce stores and ripped off buyers (payments received, but good & products never delivered) and since Stripe was easy-to-go at that time, these scammers could comfortably cashout their loot.
Stripe was (is) unable to stop such scammers from using (misusing) Stripe and hence, since around Sept 2022, Stripe has tightened their nuts & bolts to the extent that even if they suspect a legit ecommerce store to be a scammy type of ecommerce store, Stripe will simply suspend the Stripe account. And, even if Stripe does not suspect an ecommerce store to be scammy (sees it as legit), they will nowadays place holds, etc.

Some additional information : These scammers also HEAVILY used (misused) Google Ads (shopping campaigns) to advertise their fake ecommerce stores and since Google Ads also was (is) unable to stop such scammers from advertising in Google Ads (shopping campaigns), hence nowadays, if a new Google Merchant Center account is linked to a Google Ads account, then 99.99%, both the Google Merchant Center account is and the Google Ads account, will get suspended.

How more stupid advice you can give for people ?

They block accounts as soon as any bigger amount comes to account.
They hold it for 180 days and ask where you got it.
And 99.9% of cases, they never return money

yes this happened to me... something like 2200 usd. never had that money back. I was completely in reason and did not do anything bad. just sold marketing services and got paid there. all my customers were happy for the service... never understood the reason behind

Was it social media marketing services ? If so, then Stripe, Paypal, etc consider social media marketing as a service that is counterfeit in nature (due to usage of bots, etc in smm).
 
There are no safe alternatives, you can just create a bunch of stealth accounts and keep using and replacing it.

There are no payment gateways that like these dropshitting stores that are just disposable and temporary

Crypto is a nice idea, but your conversion rate will decrease to 0,0001%, very few people will pay physical products using crypto, it's a very limited audience
