How to VET a backlink before you purchase it?

Can people please give me some tips on how to VET a backlink before you purchase it?

I'm talking beyond the basics such as checking DR, organic traffic and niche relevancy.

There are some niche relevant sites out there with OK traffic (1K - 4K) but any other tips would be appreciated.

One tip I would share is checking 'out going anchor texts' on ahrefs of the site you want to purchase a link or guest post on.

I just did this and said site looked good on paper but had a few CBD oil outgoing links!

Let me know as I'm vetting so many sites at the moment and don't want to get screwed over!!

Hello. In addition to domain metrics, I check the number and thematic links. Experienced webmasters sell only thematic links from their domain. If the links are very diverse topics, then I do not buy them.
