Best webhosting for a large website?

OP hopefully found a solution by now, but for those in a similar situation then grab yourself an account at Runcloud to manage your servers, create a droplet at DO with Litespeed, use their managed database plan if you want them to manage your DB, then use DO Spaces to serve your static files. When deploying with DO or any host for that matter, always choose a server closest to your customers/visitors. DO also provides load balancers should you have a global audience and want them routed to servers close to them. Here you might be able to get away with a load balancer and a couple small servers vs one big server.

A lot people just throw more hardware at their website without making any necessary optimizations to their web app, because throwing hardware at the problem is easy. That’s not how you scale! You would be surprised how many times one month’s worth of work could save you overall and reap better performance results.

I would stick to name brand hosting providers because a lot of mom and pops are just resellers, unless they hopefully give you top notch support.

Great suggestion. At the moment I am on a shared server with cpanel and did not want to migrate to a VPS cos of cli and server management, etc. However Runcloud seems to be the solution. However it is a paid solution. Is there any free alternative to cpanel that can be installed on DO droplet?

Yes, there are many alternatives.. Free control panel obviously..

We are in 2022, isn't hard to search for that. Let me tell you that you find it and you can learn how to manage or install a control panel in VPS
Within 1 hour or 30 minutes, if you watch a video in Youtube.

To use a VPS you need and is expected to have know-how, you can use control panel paid or free, of course paid is much better because of security updates.

You can install what you want in DO.

You can go with Managed VPS (won't be cheap, but they do everything for you) or managed dedicated servers.

That is huge overpay there. I got wordpress site too with similar traffic and tons of images - I'm using shared hosting and My host has free litespeed too, I use Free Litespeed caching plugin that has increased my site tremendously.

You are overpaying for too little resources you need for your site. It will be different case If you have some use case which we dont know. If it's just WordPress site with over 1k visitors a day - You can just do well with shared host.

I would recommend you to go for a bare metal dedicated servers, as it will be fully dedicated hardware allocated to your website, and all of its resources including CPU cores and RAM will be used by your website, it can surely enhance the performance and based on your needs you can see how many cores CPU you would need and also about RAM, i would also recommend you for AMD EPYC as they are fast and powerful.

I tested vps last year, most of them have the ssh console so locket you not get access no matter if you have password or ssh keys ...I got always access denied

The only one who worked was linode and gogle cloud vm, on both hestia panel was good, cyberpanel often causes ssl errors...but google cloud has no ddos protection. And many horror stories out there from people who setup $15 month google cloud vm but got
invoice 10x fold of that.....

So myself when I get enough traffic and have the money I would go with managed server easy to use like abwe hosting...

I see that namecheap has managed vps and dedicated for fair price and Hostxnow has semi dedicated fast hosting.

In the moment I have mddhosting on their $14 month plan superior and fast.

When you have a server with 6gb ram and cpu or more, yes it will be powerful but when bandwith is 2 TB, that will be around 80-100.000 visitors a month?
