Is my site sandboxed?

Hi,

You guys might be tired of hearing this question again and again. But please bare with me cause I am a newbie and am in a state of predicament right now.

I had this website that I started on feb 1st. I used FTS and normal articles in the starting to promote it. It reached the 1st page of google on 25th feb. To further increase the ranking, I decided to build a linkwheel around it and use angela's backlinks.

I did both of them with for around one week. I built only 1 linkwheel in around a week because I was told that it is better to spread out the wheel with time. The wheel had around 18 properties. Out of the 18 properties 8 of them were blogs that I was hosting. And the rest were other websites, like livejournal, wordpress etc.

After I finished the linkwheel, my rankings improved a bit.

To improve the power of my rankings I decided to build sub wheel on my linkwheel. this time I built linkwheels using the same blogs that I created like wordpress, livejournal, vox etc and the blogs that I was hosting. to build linkwheel around the post thats were used in the main linkwheel.

I built sub wheels on the blogs that that I was hosting. I built it around 5 of them.

But, I didn't spread the linkwheel over time. I made them using a software and it was very fast.

Yesterday, my site went up to the second position, and 5 minutes later it disappeared from the SERP.

I never closed any linkwheel, and I always left atleast one page in the linkwheel not pointing to the main page.

My site is still indexed in google. I can find my "About US" page on the 17th page of google.

I don't have a sitemap installed.

So, can you guys tell me what did I do wrong and what is the reason this happened?

Should I expect my website to come back in the rankings or should I forget about it?

The next time I build a linkwheel, what approach should I take?

It's been a little shock to me because this was my first attempt at IM and google slappped me!

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

1 month old site that goes up/down/dissapears in SERPS is totally normal.

1) build more links
2) build more links
3) wait
4) profit

You need more links... Get a GWT account and submit a sitemap. If Google is deep crawling your site, you are fine, just keep building links. You want at least 100 unique domains pointing to your home page. And a bunch of deep links too.

Yup, as long as your site still get indexed by google then its fine. I got a site get sandboxed by google last month, and it comes back last few days by ranking at 5th now.

During the time my site ranking disappear, I just keep building more backlinks and now I can see a better ranking compare to the rank at 50th before sandboxed.

Your replies were the best thing that happened to me since the last 2 days, after I was Bi*** slapped by Google.

I feel a lot more confident now.

A few more questions if you don't mind.

What kind of links should I build while my site is in the sandbox.

Should I build more linkwheels around the main site.

Should I continue building sub-linkwheels around the linkwheels of the main site.

I know I should mix everything up to get the best results. But I am just curious whether or not will it be dangerous to build more linkwheels and sublinkwheels.

And since I am using the same blogs and 8 of the blogs are hosted by me they have the same IP address.

I read somewhere having the same IP address and the same e-mail for web 2.0 properties could be dangerous.

So when I build a sub-linkwheel, I have 7 of my own blogs, (which mean the same IP adress), and 6 web 2.0 properties and MU wordpress blog sites (with same e-mail adress used for registration)

Is it dangerous to use these sites again and again for the linkwheeling structure?

Again, I really appreciate your co-operation with a NewB like me and I hope you don't mind answering my questions.

Heaps of links from heaps of different sources. Blog comments, forum profiles, articles, web 2.0 properties, social bookmarking, etc.

They're not as effective as they used to be but they will help, yes.

Should I continue building sub-linkwheels around the linkwheels of the main site.

You can, but this will increase your work load a lot and it's not imperative.

That's only if all of the sites are hosted on the same IP address. They aren't hosted on the IP you create them from so you'll be okay.

Whoa, hang on. So you're using domains that you own and are hosted on the one IP to link to other blogs that are also hosted on the same IP? That isn't a good idea at all.

Use web 2.0 properties for your link wheels, or domains hosted on different C Class IP addresses.

Yaa that's what had me worried about it being sandboxed. I read somewhere that it is a good idea to make your own network of blogs and then use them in a linkwheel. So I bought 10 info domains related to my niche and used them in my linkwheel. I used my blogs alternately in my linkwheel. So the linkwheel I made was like this

my hosted website ------- web 2.0 property -------- my hosted website -------- web 2.0 property, and so on

After my website got sandboxed, I read a little more about it and found out that it isn't a good idea to use your own websites because of the detectable IP address.

This was what got me worried. So, do you think this is a serious issue. Since I already used them in my linkwheel and it has already been detected by google, should I continue posting content on my blogs and the other web 2.0 properties, so Google doesn't takes them as normal blogs.

Or should I just leave the blogs as they are and not use them anywhere from now on.
