do you guys think it would be better for me to go to these nav bars on the chronicle theme?

I'm likin it a lot.
Black gradients are nice backgrounds. What look really nice sometimes is when people make a customized background with photoshop.
It could be something like two massive arms flexing - one on the right and one on the left of the style sheet. And have it be sort of transparent as well.

i tried that last night with the 2 biceps, i felt like the background was too distracting from the actual blog.
nope, not an autoblog. i manually doing the articles and pictures into them. i make sure to include multiple pictures in each post though. im still thinking of changing up the nav bars. i REALLY love blue and gray themes, BUT i feel that the red in the titles of the articles stand out to the user and grabs their attention.

I didn't see the original theme on your site, but the layout you have now looks professional. Just need to replace the news feed so it isn't just a duplicate of the other content. But you already said you plan to address that.

can you please be more specific about the news feed being a duplicate? i tried to use my news feed on a twitter style site but it wouldnt accept the feed i was using so i had to use an alternative. thank you

Looks good, I looked for a navigation menu or sitemap but couldn't find one, from a consumer perspective, it helps people find the pages of the site that interest them.
Also, do follow/top commentator comments encourage visitors (or it has on my wp blogs).

I wasn't looking at your page when i typed my comment. What i mean is that the News Highlights section on the top right is just dupicating the content of the Latest News on the left bottom. Its kind of redundant and just wasting space on your page. Would be much better to use one of those spaces for a different purpose. Either keep the Latest News and use the News Highlights spot for adsence or other advertising, or else change the Latest News section to some different content. Maybe most popular stories if you have enough different articles or anything that won't just duplicate the same content. Now that I look at it I see that you have another section under the video that does the same thing too, maybe make that one use the tag cloud for the default tab and then they can choose another tab if they want.
Moving the adsence from the bottom right to where the News Highlight is would probably increase your CTR. Right now it is below the fold and your visitors, even if interested in your content, can just click through to an article without even seeing the adsence advertising. If they aren't interested then they'll just leave the page without you even having the chance of them leaving by an adsence ad.
i see wht you mean, id like to add some adsense that is picture banner related vs that cellucor one at the top.
i was also trying to find some sort of plugin that will automatically add a watermark (image or txt) to pictures i upload to my site. any ideas for any? i havent seen any.

I usually just use photoshop when I want to watermark an image. If you don't have PS, then there are free opensource equivalents like GIMP. I imagine if you google for it you might find something that does nothing else, but photoshop is useful for so many things I recommend getting it or an equivalent.
I know thats not automatic, but its always been good for me. If you want to watermark a batch of images, that can be automated in photshop though. I will say one thing about it though, I'm a parttime photographer. One of my sites is photo related, but other than photographs I'm actually trying to sell, I dont really watermark that much.

Just a few things I noticed immediately:
- Could use a better header logo
- Search looks weird
- The image on the Coupon page doesn't fit the theme of your site at all
- Bright red footer looks strange
- Background doesn't contrast the header enough. I would go with a very dark grey or blue instead of the medium grey there now

anything you think would look better as a logo? i have to agree, i am going to switch that search at the top to something else. the red at the bottom i will have fixed this weekend. true the image on coupon page isnt the best, but google images didnt give anything really awesome. ill keep looking though

I think a yellow/red style would work great since they were hogans old colors. Keep the letters thick and maybe metallic or shiny, something to give some depth.
well i am not looking to infringe on hogan though. this site is just a funny easy to remember domain name that is with fitness though. im actually looking to move to a gray and blue layout. so i can use black and white pictures and the blog updates have vibrant pictures showing to draw you in.
