I got 37$ for 170k streams on Spotify

Hi BHW members I am new here,
3 months ago I wanted to make money on Spotify buy buying streams to some AI generated music I made ( I am using distrokid for distribution).

I remember for February I bought 170k streams all premium streams with with most streams being from the USA ( as shown on my artist analytics).

since distrokid takes 3 months to update earnings I just received my earnings report for February and it says I made 37$, I thought Spotify pays around 3$ per 1k streams and since I had 170k streams mostly from USA I am confused since the math is very far off, not even enough to break even.

Any ideas on the cause of this or what to do now ?

I don't trust distrokid at all, they don't allow to drop new music for no reason at all

The people you bought the streams off of have probably botted you in a noticeable way and Spotify ghosted the streams.

But it shows the streams on my Spotify artist account, do you mean they count the streams but still won't pay you for them ?, I contacted distrokid support but they keep giving me copy paste answers

Yes, this often happens when botting streams, they show but no pay. Call it ghosting. I think its because Spotify want to boast higher plays than competitors but they understand that they are botted streams so wont pay for them (dont quote me on that though because im not sure)
