What are your thoughts on PBNs linking to authority sites? Should a PBN blog only have nice anchor internal links plus the single OBL to Moneysite? Or are a few (or even 1) high authority outgoing links beneficial?

Yes, we like to link to studies, to statistics or embedd reddit discussions. Authority links are fine.

sorry if this is a noob question but how can you tell if a domain has been used as a pbn before? looking at one on on expireddomains that has 203k backlinks and a DP score of 412 and its currently only only $36

sorry i should have clarified. i went to archive.org but and looked through its history but what exactly are we looking for? a drastic change in the sites layout or content? nothing but blog articles and links? This is all new to me, sorry. Not sure what PBN's are supposed to look like. Been doing my own SEO for my business for past 3 years and trying to learn all i can and step it up some.

first look for new outlinks. Blogs with outlinks. New contact details, removed contact details, new design. Different content. New ads. Mostly you can also see some downtime in archive but not always.

A well made PBN will be hard to spot.

Typical PBNs or those that are not well made will fit into the footprints I mentioned in the OP of this thread, e.g. bad hosting -> shared IPs with other PBNs, semi-good attempts to hide IPs behind CDNs, default layouts (default theme, etc.), irrelevance, no customization, high OBL (sometimes).

Ask for samples and look for common footprints.

- How high is the OBL (anything above 15-20 will be excessive)
- Check Archive for history of the PBN
- Check RDs / link profile (is the link equity enough to support the OBL?)
- Check IPs (!) - are the PBNs hosted on real unique dedicated IPs (i.e. not shared with other PBNs)
- Check hosting
- Check relevance / thematic relevance
- Check if they are connected to other PBNs they may own
- Check DNS / Whois
- Check design and customization. Does it resemble a real site or is it just a theme slapped with a blog roll on the homepage. Have they rebuild strong inner pages?
- Check the SSL
- Check Nameservers
- Check the content used (is it readable, and even insightful. Or clearly spun garbgabe)

These are the most basic ones I'd check.

Linking to just one page of your money site:

This is the best and safest approach to using your PBNs. By keeping OBL = 1 you leverage all of the link power. This is our recommended way to use PBNs. Of course you can target diff. inner pages on your money site by using separate PBNs. That's totally fine. So PBN A links to moneysite.com/abc/ and PBN B links to moneysite.com/xyz/.

Mostly contextual. Never in the Footer.

Only linking to the money site once.

We build the PBNs on auction, dropcatch or expired domains that already have a strong link profile. That's where the link equity stems from. So these are not fresh domains, so to speak.

I am amazed by your guide and would like to ask you a question.

I have built a money site with an auction domain in the same niche now, but this is Asia and before that I was using it in the US, and the organic keywords in semrush are catching as US, I am confused if I should keep this domain or change it.
