Yeah apps you can do everything in fbml and much, much more. You can get the user to invite all their friends at a click of a button. Easy to go viral.

The thing is, what about all the big brands that also make use of Facebook pages + FBML. I'm pretty sure that they use the Facebook ads platform to push users to their page (like any regular corporation would), and if all they can have is a regular fan page with no additional features to intrigue their potential clients, aren't they going to relax their advertising budgets a bit?
It's inevitable that Facebook will do something to try and filter the system from all the "become a fan to see" pages, however stripping out FBML entirely from the fan page system seems a bit far for the aforementioned reasons.
No matter what however, there will always be a way to utilise Facebook as a marketing platform. According to HitWise, it recently overtook Google as the most visited site in the US.
One of the great things about Facebook from my perspective is the community thats there. A site which is founded on social networking and has over 400 million members is definitely a gold mine for exploitation.

I agree, i highly doubt on them removing the whole FBML from pages completely,
alot of legit charities use facebook and businesses as well. I mean yes they will try get rid of the visible to fans, but removing it completely would be extreme, if they wanted too a month ago when people started using it for CPA they could have stripped FBML and removed it then, if they were that bothered it would be no longer already.

Removing FBML from fan pages would also kill a lot of their largest PPC customers off. The majority of companies advertising via PPC on FB in large scales send the users to their fan page, who the hell would pay to send people to a wall of a fan page, there wouldn't be a single person paying for this traffic then. At this point it will destroy their idea of project titan as they would end up losing their largest paying customers who will downscale alot to optimize their campaigns for external links (Of which Facebook will most likely reject anyway) and they would run out of ads to display.
Obviously I'm taking it to the extreme saying that but end result = lower earnings for advertisers = less money spent on PPC ads = less money for FB if they remove FBML from fan pages.

At the click of a button you can obtain full permissions to royally fuck up a persons profile, piss off their friends with annoying messages and post to their stream daily until they revoke the permissions. You can do a lot more with apps than you may think

Exactly. My app does it. I've seen many apps that do amazing things fbml couldn't dream of. It's just harder to code.
