[Journey] I've started a porn app journey

Hey,
I was read-only for a couple of years, gaining so much useful tips from this forum.
This is my turn to deliver some motivating and useful info.


IMO there are not so many really convenient porn sites out there.
Even top-notch players have really moderate bruh UX. Why not fix it and make a good porn site? This niche never gets out of date.
After discussing an idea with my friends, we split roles and started building a TikTok-alike website containing porn.

Here is what we did so far:

Here's the plan:
1. Launch an mvp - DONE
2. Get the first $ revenue - DONE
3. Make UX/UI better than the top-5 competitors - IN PROGRESS
4. Reach the first 1k-10k/daily visitors - IN PROGRESS
Eventually, I want to build an app that will semi-passively make my being, gaining $5-50k a month. Do you think this real?)

What do you use for hosting?
 
Beating the big porn sites by having a better UX is going to be a long tough road.

I tried to do this with a porn tube site that had extensive search filters, highly regulated indexing of videos to ensure proper categorization and tags etc. It was a long tedious process to create it, but in the end people just didn't care.

I flooded the site with quality, targeted traffic for months but people just don't care about a better UX when it comes to free porn. You would think they would because, I agree with you, the UX on porn tube sites is terrible. But people just don't care. It's not enough to keep them coming back.

You'll need more than just a better UX, but your approach is a little different than mine so good luck.

I don't think it'll be easy ofc

The goal is to create a stable source of passive income. I bet gradually gaining audience + hitting top-10 of the similar apps will be good.
And I don't aim to beat pornhub and xhamster, or etc. May be sell the business (why not?) to them at some point when I have good product

2 tips from me.
Dont mix straight porn with gay porn, in 10 swipes up, I got 2 gay porn videos.

If you wanna put ads every 3 swipes at least use 10-20 different banners, and make them full page and the best would be for them to look like other videos but with a Call to Action so they can make you money.
