Can a person register an org domain?

When I wanted to register an expired one last week, I should have to last week, but I freaked and let it go. I didn't want any legal consequences.

I've owned many of them. They register (or they used to anyway) just like .com or .net

What is the statement you have to fill in asking you? It may be registrar specific.

Wow ok well I can tell you there are no legal requirements to register a .org over a .com or .net (but I'm not an attorney) so I see no reason for anybody to be asking you for this but hey...it is what it is.

I would try registering the domain you want at another registrar and see if they want the same.

Maybe I had to, because it was an expired domain that belonged to a real organization

If it is trademarked, then that is when you might have problems.

I have never heard of this requirement for .org's, and afaik no requirements, even in the past lots of adult names used it- which registrar did you attempt to use?

Never had any issue registering org, still owns an unused org.
