Does using the same featured image on Wordpress hurt SEO?

I'm thinking about automating one of my wordpress sites, does it hurt SEO if I use the same featured image for the articles generated?

Google will most likely won't give a sh!t about or simply detect it as an ad, sidebar or any other type of static picture,
And since many websites do get results without using any pics at all or even better than using scraped copied pics, this will be actually safer,

You can use a group of similar pics as spintax instead, which can make it even better for UX and SEO

This is not a good idea. Not sure about Google, but your audience will surely not like this.

There are solutions available for you in the market. There are plugins available which can generate a unique image from the title of the article and set it as a thumbnail image on the go. Give it a try. Your problem will be resolved.

It's fine. Recently I stumbled upon a competitor that rotated 20-30 images throughout the entire website (both featured images and images in posts) and they are doing great. Google has no idea what your images are about (except for your alt tags), and as long as you have a decent size pool of images your audience won't notice. Most visitors don't browse through your categories and visit multiple posts anyways.

Google has no idea what your images are about

They do, actually.
A few years ago I upload a white image with text to one of my sites and added it to the end of an unrelated post without any tag or anything. A couple of weeks later could've already find it in Google Images when I quoted the text from it.

I think better is to use different images of different content, if you use the same image looks spammy, so my suggestion is better to avoid this.
