I ran across something last week that deals with making money from Google Search. It went a step beyond adding a Google Search bar to you web page. It had to do with (for Vista) creating a widget that's geared to a specific niche.

Anyone know what I'm talking about?

I found the info for it last week, but the wife :rocketwho came along and closed down my browser an now I can't recall where I found the info.

I was hoping someone could point me back in the right direction.

Yo,

This is a subject I am very knowledgeable in. I have spent a lot of nights researching and teaching myself a little bit more about XML and Javascript. The Google Search is great not only for Vista Sidebar Widgets, but think about expansion, like this:

Build A Widget For Vista
Crossover and Build A Widget for Google Users
Crossover And build A Widget for Yahoo

Now Google will walk you thru what you need to do, but a Google Search Widget is very simple considering you really only need a nice XML file. The deal is that you need to have large sites and you need to have them indexed so that the search will return a ton of results. Unless of course you load the search to provide results from other sites. I wouldn't want to do this, I would much rather have my sites returning the results.

It's all about what you want to do. I am sure your head is going to start bubbling with a ton of ideas. I know mine is, but I am staying relatively quiet on the subject:)

Well,

I don't want to seem like I am nagging and I really don't like giving a lot of info out as I am very passionate and very involved with this stuff, but if you get a programmer that will help you on the Java and XML end, be as super cool as you can.

I was lucky enough to hook up with a great guy and form a partnership with him, and I can't tell you how nice it is to have someone that has totally different knowledge than you helping you out. Also, you won't have to pay them each project, you can just split profits.

Keep me updated in the forum or privately, very interested and love speaking to anyone that is involved with this type of stuff.

I will ruck
a good example is this guy http://www.softpedia.com/get/Windows-Widgets/Widget-Miscellaneous/Pike-s-Google-Search-Widget.shtml

head is bursting with ideas:D

Yea,

Great example. I for one went the quick route on getting widgets up fast with some basic Amazon, Buy.com, and HSN widgets. I am now working on making some more sophisticated and better looking widgets.

Just thinking like a marketer though puts you at a sever advantage here. What marketer would not like their own personal widgets on people's computers you know? You cookie setting everyday on people's computers. That's power.

YOU read my mind :p

Ruck thanks for all the great info. You definately got me thinking on this one. It really seems that the possibilities could be endless.

Hrm... now where to start. :D
