3. Create and manage to-do lists
4. View live sports scores, stats and other data
5. Book and organise any holiday
6. Interact with numerous web applications (Gmail, Trello, Google Sheets)
7. Search for and reserve restaurants
8. Explore magazine articles
9. Engage in gaming
10. Order from local businesses
11. Monitor cryptocurrency prices
12. Learn new languages
13. Create, manage, and store notes
14. Solve complex mathematical problems
15. Locate and generate documents
... and this is just the start.
The importance of this discovery cannot be overstated. Considering ChatGPT's rate of improvement (ChatGPT-4 is 82% better than ChatGPT-3.5 on some metrics), it's evident that ChatGPT has the potential to reshape the internet as we know it in just a few years.
ChatGPT is preparing to become the all-in-one app that everyone needs, your browser, the internet's homepage, Google, Siri, the App Store, and more.
Once again, the emphasis is on ChatGPT's future capabilities and the heights it can reach as its rapid rate of improvement continues.
Technological paradigm shifts of this magnitude are both exhilarating and daunting - I always feel terrified and excited in equal measure when the tectonic plates move. Regardless and most importantly, they inspire me to lean in! It's only a threat if you dismiss it and lean out; it's an opportunity if you lean in!
Will AI steal your job? I think the answer is nuanced. In the same way that the internet itself changed the way we work, I think AI will change the way we work. For example, once upon a time, a personal assistant, copywriter or creative wouldn’t have had to know how to use the internet to be effective in their role - now you wouldn’t hire someone that didn’t know how to use the internet. The same will apply for many of these tools, so lean in!
At Flight Story, we have received a surge of inquiries from brands this month eager to embrace and understand the possibilities of this technology. I believe that these forward-thinking "lean in" brands will dominate the next iteration of the internet.
In 2018, I converted our entire website into a chat interface for two years. The user experience was clunky and rigid because AI hadn't advanced enough yet. However, my intention was not to create a great user experience, it was to signal to all of our clients that the future of search would be chat and voice interfaces—conversational, not clicking and scrolling.
That future is now upon us.
How do you feel about it? Scared? Excited? Confused? If you have questions about ChatGPT, I will do my best to share my thoughts, opinions, and predictions in the comments section below
