How can businesses use Sina Weibo to reach Chinese audiences and promote their products or services?

I don't think Weibo is a good channel to promote products and services. Most of Weibo users browse news or share their life on Weibo. Promoted ads and tweets are hardly read. If you must choose to promote on Weibo, then choose to cooperate with KOLs and let them increase the publicity for your products.
However, if it is purely for product promotion, I recommend using Xiaohongshu, which is also a Chinese social media software, and basically contains KOL promotion advertisements.

That's spot on. But I want to add some sentences based on your phrases. OP can find some Chinese KOL to promote, but be careful, not every KOL can bring you more sales. Why not open an e-commerce store on Taobao and Jingdong. These two platforms are big in China

Yes, starting an eCommerce store is a great option. However, the fastest way to guide traffic is to use a social media platform like Xiaohongshu, advertise by yourself or cooperate with KOL. This may be the ultimate destination of e-commerce now lol

As a foreigner, it will be difficult as hell. Why? Because you will face a lot of challenges with verification and bans. At some point, they will just come up with a weird reason preventing you from using the platform. For me, they said, "you need a Chinese bank account for verification". Of course, I didn't have one. The best thing you can do is hire a Chinese social media marketing firm.

That's right, because most merchants are Chinese, they don't have PayPal or Trac, and they don't have foreign wallets. Of course, I'm only talking about payment.

tbh, promoting products on Weibo may not yield good results due to the platform's user behavior.
