Potential way to get infinite high quality backlinks? (probably illegal)

Just had an idea in mind, it is too blackhat for me, but still curious if it is even possible to pull off.

So, some websites offer scripts that gets used by other websites. For example a CDN, what if some of these CDNs get expired, and someone buys them then completely changes the script requested by other websites content to something that would add a backlink to the page itself.

Sounds a bit complicated but I'll try to explain further:
1-Website1.com offers a script that adds a valuable functionality to website2.com.
2-Website1.com gets expired, website2.com likely will still be calling website1.com/script to get the script.
3-Someone buys website1.com domain and hosts the website1.com/script, but with completely different content that could change the HTML of website2.com to include whatever backlink.
4-Infinite backlinks? Profit? No clue.

Even if this is possible, could you get in trouble for basically "hacking" into another website?

I remember reading about a method where you create a website that generates stuff like privacy policies, cookie policies, etc. For people to copy-paste into their own websites, however, what they didn't know was that you had hid a link somewhere in the text back to your website.

You can find expired or auction domains that has widget links pointing back to it. But I am not sure that is what you meant.

That can still be used, anything that uses JavaScript would work with this.

You meant to say widgets like "flag counters, visit counters"? Such as if some flag, visit counter website domain gets expired and you buy it and set up your own script to load in the user's websites?
IMO, I think it's hard to find these types of expired domain names.

This exists for many, many years. Javascript recognize copy or ctrl + C and append message like "content taken from www. domain .com" to clipboard... easily detectable when you paste it, though.
