I think prompt follows output.

Look at the numbers as space in your PC (You know, KBs, MBs ,GBs, TBs etc. -Mega, Gigabytes..)
8K is roughly about 3,000 words

Something like 3-4 letters are 1 token don't get me on this just an average
so your plan choice is based on the amount needed for you to input

So if you need more than about 3,000 words you'll need the 32K

Output is an addition, so you pay prompt + output on completion

the word 'word' is about 1 token

* FYI; I'm long-time way off the field but that's basically about it

Fortunately, it's not as bad as I thought. However, it is still 15x more expensive than GPT-3.5

GPT-4 requires payment for both prompts and outputs, with the 8k model being cheaper than the 32k model. Prompts have a lower price tag as well.

Or you can use GPT-4 for free thru Microsoft's Bing.

If I understand this correctly, you pay $0.0005 per token for the prompt and $0.001 per token for the completion. For example, if your prompt has 100 tokens and your completion has 200 tokens, you pay $0.15 for that output ($0.05 for the prompt and $0.10 for the completion) where the prompt is the input that you provide to GPT-4, and the completion is the output that GPT-4 generates.
