My telegram account got hacked!

I made a telegram account using a number I bought from a pva website.

Now a few months later all my contacts got deleted and someone added 20 new contacts and started spamming them.

I can still login using telegram desktop.

How can I secure my account so the hacker can’t get back into my account?
Is there anyway to restore my contacts and chat history which he deleted?

I will advise you report this issue to telegram support, I believe they could help you on it.

Did you get the Phone Number too?
The phone number was most likely accessible by them too.
Not surprised whatsoever.

U can't secure a TG account, while you can put 2fa etc on it, it will still forcibly break after 2 weeks or something.
It's best to buy a TG account from TG itself using its anonymous phone numbers that you will 100% own.

You could try third party apps but other than that, no, not really.

From telegram desktop try the following, click on the three lines icon at the top left side. You will see a menu screen settings then go to advanced, find and select "export telegram data" within the "data and storage" section. Choose the deleted messages and conversations you wish to export and there should be all the previous chats, groups and messages. then click on 'Export' and then 'Show my data' to see all the chats and info.

is it sick? its kind of expected. youre buying a cheap pva. that number gets passed around like a cheap whore. try finding pva vendor that promises they don't recycle numbers to others. but even then you are stuck depending on a vendor to tell the truth. with no recourse if they lie.
@MoonStarz mentioned the method to restore chat history. it may work. i remember i deleted all chat history w/ a contact and it was NOT included in my export folder. ymmv.
youre better off using a google voice number to pva since its retention is 1yr minimum, to lifetime, so long as you don't leave it inactive. or your number/your gf's number.

all mentioned above plus you can end other sessions in case you are logged in from your account
Go to settings > active sessions > end all except the one yours
Than enable 2fa and maybe change the linked number to a more secure one

My recommendations, are 2FA and using a PVA number from an expensive site, for example, Swiss or some kind of place, as they are more expensive the probability for a Spammer to get your number is much lower.

My experience is having a PVA phone number for 3 years with a few login attempts but not being able to log in as I was using 2FA. The phone number was not from Russia, Russian PVA numbers are overwhelmed by botters.

this has nothing to do with sharing your handle publicly and everything to do with cheap numbers and sellers selling the same accounts to multiple buyers
