Where do you point your backlinks to when putting a link in reference?
Homepage or a specific page related to your wiki edit?
If latte is the case do you only do edits for competitive keywords in order to point to your posts about competitive keywords?

I have nothing to offer for the "references" part because these are usually books and other "heavy publications".
If you meant "notes", then I link to a specific page, to which I added a "confirmation" to the sentence that needed a citation.
With "External Links", I try to go for general keywords rather than for those that I'm competing for, but sometimes it works either way.
