I'm going to share some of my key takeaways from the 2022 marketing report published by Twitter. It covers the biggest increases in tweets mentioning certain keywords from 2019 to 2021:

  • Fandoms were becoming more participatory and creative on Twitter.
    • Tweets mentioning fan fiction increased by 103%.
    • Tweets mentioning cosplay increased by 41%.
    • Tweets mentioning fan cams increased by 140%.
  • Twitter remained a hub for crypto conversations and education.
    • Tweets mentioning Bitcoin increased by 142%.
    • Tweets mentioning Ethereum increased by 651%.
    • Tweets mentioning NFTs increased by a whopping 29,000%.
  • Creators still used Twitter to showcase their work, connect with their fans, and monetize their content.
    • Tweets mentioning Patreon increased by 195%.
    • Tweets mentioning Substack increased by 1,100% .
    • Tweets mentioning OnlyFans increased by 553%.

It makes me wonder what the trends for Twitter will be after Musk's takeover and crypto/NFT crash. What do you think?

Thanks for sharing, that's quite something.

I guess it's to ride the NFT wave while it's still high before it goes flat.

Good and worthwhile insight right here, might refer to it in the future or as a look back when the year ends just to see how new management changed things up. But man, for a while marketing on Twitter became one heck of a wild west. NFT boom and the Musk takeover all on a short span of time. What a doozy.
