Is this Expired Domain Okay?

I came across an expired domain (it doesn't have any word in it that's related to the niche I want to start) but it has a DA of 22 and 400 referring domains including Wikipedia backlinks.

Backlink profile is clean.
Spam score is 10% ( I know it's not super relevant but thought I mention that).

However when using wayback machine I see it was used as a redirect to some Japanese/Chinese site. Nothing was directly built on the site just used as redirection.

There's no way to actually test if it's completely okay other than buying it and checking search console but just wondering what you guys think.

Wikipedia links are very easy to build by yourself (takes some time, though).
If that's the main reason you want it, just buy a clean domain and do it yourself.
A 10% spam score is not super high, but it's a lot higher than 0, and unless you're going for the same niche it used to be in, all of the links are meaningless.

The Chinese/Japanese thing is just the last nail in the coffin in my opinion.

Spammed, move on.

Picking domains based on the keyword is a borderline utopia. Pick domain first, then pick a niche based on that. Even that is ridiculously hard these days with diminishing supply and people spamming domains prior to entering auctions to get them cheaper.

You will not find anything worth bother as a money site outside of domain auctions. If you do not have a few hundred USD to spend, then save yourself trouble and start with a fresh domain.

Buying a domain with a few RDs to almost no benefit, then working on it for months and realizing you will never rank, because it's spammed and lame is a waste of resources.

Thanks for the replies guys, it's basically only the redirect to the chinese/Japanese site.

It's actually a local news paper website hence why it has links from Wikipedia and other local news papers.

Sucks that it was used for redirect.

Again. The redirects themselves aree not an issue. The issue is where it was redirected + I am 100% sure there are many more issues with this particular domain than just that.

I found another site but for some reason when I check the latest date on Wayback machine to see if it was used for redirects, the page is blank. Wayback machine isn't showing the snapshot

Any other way or tool to use

That's really sad. $10 is almost a regular price. Considering the redirect thing I would still have bought this domain and kept it for my experimental projects - not the money site.

But I think you have taken a good decision to leave it. If you can't afford it then better let it go and invest the money in some other fresh domain.

SSo domain is dead as you mention Chines redirect.

THat wont get indexed with Google.

I bought an expired domain that was used for Chinese redirects and spam (has a spam score of 45%).
The homepage got indexed on Google with lorem ipsum placeholders.
