Has anyone been attacked with malware lately?

So 15+ of my websites have been attacked by malware, over 4000 posts were indexed within 2 days.




Almost immediately kills all traffic.

Well, your website was infected for a while but you caught it through google, so the damage were done.

Good news, once you clean it, everything will be back to normal.

Fresh Server, and of you have really old backup use it. Even better, rebuild your website with clean files and import content

Even check those "really old backup" for malware.
It may have been in dormant until they deemed it effective.

Sucks, I hate this, im not currently having anything like this happen to me you a year back a site of mine got hit because an old plugin that the owner doesn't update was used to infect sites. It was a pain dealing with since it didn't do anything until 3 months after it actually entered the site, and at that point I had lots of things done that even with a backup, the backups had the malware on it too. Im not skilled in dealing with this kind of stuff, my hosting company was useless in helping me ........ when I was locked out so I couldn't even change my files without them.
In the end, with an old back up I saved the site but the process of getting all the "good " content that was created after the back up was annoying, hopefully, better ways to deal with those things exist today.

Not really. Many of my attacked sites have never returned to normal.
But I have to admit it took me a while to take action over them on a period I did not have time to manage such attack

I think that the sooner you act, the better. Google nowadays is much faster taking decisions on the condition of a site. I remember that some years ago, a 404 for months would not have any impact if you recover it after a while. Nowadays, a 404 can go completely deindexed and removed from all searches in barely some weeks.

I doubt that SSL was relevant at all, unless they did a MITM when you were login in your site, and got your credentials in plain text

99% of the times plugins are the problem for this kind of attacks.
