ChatGPT will not replace search/websites

Obviously I might be wrong and this is only my opinion but ChatGPT will not replace most websites.
From a normal everyday user it is boring dry experience using it, no photos, all the text looks the same, no lists, no inner links and most importantly no comments from other readers. this is why i think the hype from it will die down soon. it will remain a great a great tool to write essays, summarize documents, play around, get quick answers and write software but it will not become the new google.

The only kind of websites that might suffer from it are knowledge base websites like wikipedia that offer the same kind of experience.

I do not think so.

There is much to search engine than searches. And most importantly, you want to see a variety of results that help us you to now birth yours. Rather than one pre written article. I want to see as many articles on a topic as possible.

With time CHATGPT will fizzle away.

well I think that the chatGPT is in a very early stage, and with time its capabilities and code will develop too, but i still think it will take time may be like 5 more years to become a more widely used search engine, still will have to see where the power of the AI coders will take it.

chatgpt is not going to become google, because they don't have the infraestructure to handle all the world request, I defenetely believe Wikipedia will suffer the hardest hit, because this is like an Encarta in the old days, with lot of info of several topics but the problem is if the information that collects and show is not moderated might be fake and with google you have the option to compare with chatgpt you receive only one option and that's it

Even if Google bought ChatGPT and wanted to move search to an AI interface, they still couldn't get the more complex things right. Google's current model give you a list results and out of those a couple may be exactly what you want. It really depends on how complex your search query is. AI is ARTIFICIAL intelligence, it is not human. There is a reason why sites ranking #2, #3, #4 etc. still get clicks. Otherwise people would just click the first result every time and be done with it.

If you are into fluff niches such as recipes where there are several ways to cook a meatloaf, or if you are a dictionary which is simply a collection of definitions, or you're in a niche where anyone can create content with basic research then you're in trouble. AI is going to wipe out the low tier content niches that even your dog could write about. On the other hand, if you're operating in a niche that requires some intelligence and skill to create good content then AI can't do shit there.
