Ranking a news website

About the site

It's a news website about Silicon Valley Tech (like Wired dot com if you want)

Problem

For the first time, I have a website with no real keywords to rank, and I'm a little lost.

What I did atm

I just added my website to google news, and they accepted it rly fast.

But I rly don't know how to make visitors come... there are no keywords since it's a general tech news website.

Should I just rank my domain with not keyword? Or just focus on social media?

You have to rank for freshness on your news. If your news are being searched. If you are posting just some random news that noone search, just push some longtail keywords within the content, you cannot do much more AFAIK.

No site gains authority quickly. If he doesn't write, he won't get noticed by other publishers. Google definitely shows new sites randomly to see if they are also good.

So i just keep writing and wait?

You need to write and choose interesting toopics and the quality content, most sites are always asking to get access to your cookies before you can see the information or create an account to access the full story when I see that I just step back and continue scrolling for something else so do not make that mistake and yeah fresh content 1 or 2 articles per day and will ge you up.

for news niches have thousand of websites with tons of writers, what chance fresh websites will have? zero

Make it niche-specific, share on FB groups and other socials tagging people who made the news, then invite them for an interview and ask them to share it on their website, socials and newsletter.

In my experience multi topic news blogs are worth it only if you want to sell links.

I have a news niche website that used to have almost 200k visitors/month early last year. I had to post more than 10 articles/per day to reach this number. 99% of my posts had 0 views, but the 1% that you get lucky will bring a lot of visitors.
I stopped publishing articles for four months for lack of time, and it dropped to 6000 monthly visitors.

Keep posting news about trending topics, 10-20 articles per day should do it.

New websites don't rank anymore even your site name needs time to rank! you need to wait for life to see if your site brand ranks or not and that's sad.
