Google Announces ChatGPT Competitor "Bard"

February 6, 2023 - Google just announced a new AI chatbot called "Bard" that will soon challenge its rival, ChatGPT. Bard runs on Google's massive language model LaMDA and will initially be tested by "trusted testers" before being available to the public.

Google's CEO, Sundar Pichai, promises that the AI-powered features in search will make complex information easy to understand, and the company plans to thoroughly test Bard to ensure its responses are safe, high-quality, and based on real-world information.

The AI wars are heating up!

I knew google will fight back but let's see if it will be good enough to fight back chatgpt that seems to be a strong competitor, now edge will receive the atention that needs and is time to reinstall it, well who wins will decide destiny of the internet.

It's a war between Microsoft and Google, with artificial intelligence as the chosen weapon of destruction. May the best algorithm win!

if there is no content, the AI is useless
don't you think so?
AI doesn't generate anything new, it can't think, it can't innovate, al it really does it gather existing data and smush it together currently.
We are still not there yet where AI is capable on it's own.

I think he's referring to publishers creating content solely for profit. With less search clicks, I would imaging huge revenue drops in most industries, and a lot less monetary incentive to publish content.

The smart ones will adapt and pivot, but it'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

if publishers/content writers phase out
no new content, it won't be good for any of the big SE companies.
The whole structure will more than likely change, but for better or worse, that's something we'll know soon.

I think the GPT3 model is trained on enough data to put a lot of publishers out of work. I wonder what will happen once GPT4 comes out.

new research, new events, new development?
all of that can't be AI'ed currently if it doesn't currently exist.
