Because google algo can't figure it out sometimes if you wrote it for search engine and not for readers?
Is that right? if not why not.

I think what they mean is creating content that providues actual value, not throwing out a huge bunch of posts and stuffing some keywords in while not being really helpful

It actually makes more sense to write for the readers and not the algos. Writing for the algo would simply result in your content being too optimized with keywords all over the place. This would make the content lack meaning for the readers if you never had them in mind. But if you write for the readers they would understand.

Remember the website in the first place was built for users to come consume the content.

The problem lies when you choose one direction over the other. The best way to go about it is write for both and make it balanced.

because its AI can't perfectly emulate the human brain and if they show users machine generated content they''ll lose them. And let's be real: we, the common users, don't want our questions to be answered by bots. So, it's a win-win for everyone if we write for the people

They want us to write for the readers because Google itself wants to rank its AI content for the search engine.

New readers are the ones that bring in revenue. It's like you have to sell what the market needs, not what you need

It is more like writing for the users who use google(search engine), and the primary goal of the website owner is to deliver the content user is looking for in google.

Very simple concept.
1. Google will optimize ranking based on content that is informative, accurate, unique, and non-promotional.
2. Google algorithm will identify content that will be accepted from the reader's point of view.
3. Readers like only informative, accurate, unique, and non-promotional which is back to 1st concept.

We SEO people using this concept get ranking.
In case we force the keyword unnecessarily or promotional in the article it is promotional and not accurate which will give less or no results.

I hope you got the point.

Google is like: "Hurr-durr, don't write for search engines, but for the users, bla-bla-bla... Meanwhile, we'll spin the content that you've just produced using our AI bot - Bard, without giving you any attribution. It's not like you'll need it since, let's be real - who clicks on the sources at the bottom, anyway, right? So, just continue making content for us, and we'll reward you with 0 clicks to your websites!"

The content which we write for readers would make more sense. Google prefers to show the right content to the visitors as it would provide some value.

Well take it logical my friend ,sites are build for peoole and not for something else ,so its logical that search engines want content writen for people

as said above, Google wants Users to be benefitted.
Writers/ bloggers want Google to recognise on SERP
quality content = useful for readers = Google's top rank
Hence, one should write for readers.
