I created a website based on an expired domain three weeks ago but Google marked my pages as crawled but not indexed yet. Google always indexes my content so I doubt its quality is the issue here. The domain contains a lot of old urls. Can it be the reason?

site:yoursite .com shows nothing?
Did you try submitting the links manually in GSC/using the API?

By this do you mean a lot of old links pointing to the site, or a lot of old pages on the site that are now 404 errors?

It showed the around 15 old urls that are still indexed.
Yes, I asked Google to index it.
Some of my pages have got indexed on Bing.

A lot of pages that don't exist anymore. Some of them are 404 some got 301.

You want to redirect ALL previously existing pages to either your new pages (especially if the subject matter was similar) or to your home page, or another key page. Especially if these old pages were linked to from other external pages.

If the crawler hits lots of 404s they're gonna bounce and go to the next site in their queue where they can actually find some content to index.

I redirected only those pages that contained backlinks. Are you positive about redirecting them ALL?

If the crawler is still trying to access them and getting 404s, then yes I would personally get them redirected.

Yes, it is. Thank you.

What about the soft 404 urls I see in GSC dated (the last indexing) 2 years back? There are 540 urls like this shown in my GSC.
