Starting February 9, we will no longer support free access to the Twitter API, both v2 and v1.1. A paid basic tier will be available instead

People are really not happy about this.

The minimum in the thread I saw was 10 bucks earlier for a basic plan. No telling officially.

I think Elon's sewing things up that even if they are non-API they might not work at the drop of a dime depending on Elon's "fixing".

This will only close opportunities. Selfbots that spam don't use the official api anyways since your account gets identified as an "automated Bot" when you use the official one.

So many twitter integrations will stop working now. From post scheduling tools to statuspage bots, all of those will either stop working or become expensive. Twitter's a shitstorm.

That does mess up the works a great deal. On a side note, if y'all have any accounts on any platform and use Twitter to login, you're gonna wanna rebind those account on something else. I feel like they might rework how they do free APIs instead of removing it outright. But damn, paid APIs on Twitter. There's a lot to say about that, huh. I can't imagine a lot of people are happy about that change. Someone's trying to recoup their losses.

Buffer now says their platform will still work.

There's nothing wrong with scheduled content. Newspapers need it to auto-publish their content news. It makes perfect sense if you're giving information, news or something else interesting.

Good content and 'bots' aren't mutually exclusive. You can schedule 20-30 tweets in an app using the API and they are tweeted out on those days and times. It doesn't make the quality any less.

The API won't change, so no rebinding will have to be done.
If it's paid but no rate/cap limitation then it's fine, but I feel like the free tier is gonna stay the same except for the fees, which would be horrendous.
And everyone's in the dark regarding the pricing, $100 would way too much for most.
