Besides what the guys above me suggested, I would advise three additional things.
- Never underestimate what a CDN can do. I mean proper CDN like Stackpath, not Cloudflare crap. Full CDN integration can brutally improve your site speed.
- You can optimize all you want, but if you are on some super shitty hosting, you won't be able to do miracles. Hard to cook a dinner from cold water.
- Same goes for bloated themes and design. If you are a Wordpress user, then some themes simply won't work if you want to have everything in green.
For example when I stopped using Elementor a year ago, it was bloated like me after consuming beans with a dozen garlic cloves. Keep your themes light.
So for me:
- Lighter theme, doesn't have to be super light.
- Proper hosting, at least $50 a month price range (give or take).
- WP Rocket helps a lot.
- Phastpress helps a lot. Fairly obscure plugin, but it's free and does miracles.
- CDN integration if you have static site and you need the extra punch.
Oh yes and... you get what you pay for.
