REVIEW:

I have been using the service for several weeks now. I have not had a good experience with the service, the control panel, and especially customer support.

Support can be is quite rude at times, unhelpful, and worst of all completely INCOMPETENT. They do not know how to help you in most cases even when it comes to resetting your password, which you cannot do yourself for some reason.

ISSUES:

My first issue with mobilehop was when I first encountered this thread and tried to get the discount. In the sales copy it says to "Hop over to our live chat with your username to get your discount and try mobilehop today." I followed these instructions and using their live chat a representative told me thats not how I get a discount. I have to reply to the BHW thread with my username to get a discount.

While using the service I experienced several bugs which made using the service impossible or difficult. First, IP whitelist feature removed my IP address when I would change proxies. So I would have to disable IP whitelising, re-enable, and then add my IP again. Every time. I reached out to support about this issue. I got the impression that support was trying to blame me but they did not directly. They did everything but take responsibility for the bug. They did say they would refer it to "the dev team." But 3 weeks later the issue still persists.

When changing proxies the proxy IP and Port for authentication changes. Every time. So you must update your software or browser settings to use the proxy every time you change proxies. This is unacceptable for the $180 a month price tag. For some people thats a car payment and this service should be more user friendly.

Yesterday I spent more than an hour trying to figure out why IP whitelist wouldnt work all of the sudden when I changed proxies. I contacted support which was rude and unhelpful. They could not help me. The answer was simple however. I had to add /32 to the end of my IP I wanted to whitelist. I trained mobilehop support for them with that answer.

FALSE ADVERTISING:
Yes, they can be set to rotating for both our Single Hop and Multi Hop products and can be set to any time interval from 1 minute to 1440 minutes.

Multi Hop has the ability to connect to any of our locations at any time where as the Single Hop is allowed two location changes a month.

We offer 1 hour, 24 hour and 48 hour licenses for a minimal cost, which can be used for testing. Thanks!

The reply above given to a member here when he asked if these are rotating proxies is FALSE. Mobilehop does have a setting for custom "rotation time." But this only cycles through however many IPs they have in a given location, which is usually one IP. So it does not rotate. This feature DOES NOT rotate through their locations, even if you buy the most expensive multi location package. Again, the rotation feature ONLY rotates through the IP addresses they have available for the location you have selected.

YOU ALWAYS MUST MANUALLY CHANGE LOCATION!

Hope this helps any BHW members.

Hello Zombie Pop,

We are sorry for the experience you had with our proxies and we would love to take the time to address these issues with you and hopefully clear up some of the issues you ran into for other MobileHop customers as well.

You are right, the wording is confusing. We are writing up a revision and will be requesting an edit as soon as possible so that this process is more clearly explained. Thank you very much for your input.

We will get a help article written up for this. The Whitelisting feature only needs to be enabled once however users do need to set the IP address to be whitelisted every time they change locations. The feature is great if you want to stay in one location cycling through ip addresses with our fast reset ip button however if you are a user that disconnects and moves around to different geo locations you would be better off using our EasyPort feature instead of whitelisting. (More on EasyPort later in this post)

For clarification, any time you change your location or anytime you disconnect and reconnect your proxy license to a location you will need to set your whitelisted IP again. You do not need to disable and re-enable IP Whitelisting each time, users just need to update the IP address to be whitelisted.

When changing proxies the proxy IP and Port for authentication changes. Every time. So you must update your software or browser settings to use the proxy every time you change proxies. Users don't need to worry about reconfiguring their scripts every time they change locations thanks to a feature called EasyPort. All of our Singlehop and Multihop licenses come with our EasyPort feature enabled . EasyPort is essentially a proxy, proxy. With EasyPort enabled you are provided with a IP:Port Username and Password that will stay the same no matter how many times you change locations. Currently it is not possible to have whitelisting enabled at the same time as EasyPort so be sure to choose the feature that works best for your setup.

The requirement of adding /32 to the end of your ip to be whitelisted is no longer required. By default, we have set the ip whitelist to be /32 unless otherwise specified as another subnet. Likely your response to our team on intercom lead to this feature so thank you again for your input.

I think there may be a little bit of confusion for how our IP changes work so please allow us to provide some clarification. Our Auto IP Renewal tool can be used to issue fast reset ip commands on a timer which will change your outward facing IP, the one the internet sees, this will not however change the ip address you use to connect to our proxies. As an example, let's say you connect to one of our proxies with ip 199.100.1.10 , if you have the auto ip renewal tool running the ip address of 199.1100.1.10 will not change but if you visit a site like whoer.net you will find that your outwardfacing ip does cycle through your mobile carriers ips for your geo location. Instances that will change the ip address of the proxy you are connecting to is when you change locations since you are moving to a new physical device.

Regarding rotation of IP's through our many locations we do have two ways for customers to do just this. If a customer is using easyport they will find a button on their proxy license page called "Connect to a random Proxy" this button will do exactly what it says and will connect your proxy license to a random location on a random proxy. If you're more the scripting type we also have the same feature available via our API endpoint page where users can configure their scripts to run the same command whenever they require it.

Hope this helps any BHW members.
I do want to thank you for your review because instances like this do show us where we need to improve on our explanations of features or where we might have shortcomings that aren't initially apparent.

We have also sent you a PM to hopefully gather up information on the experience you had so that we can ensure that we don't have repeat instances of what you experienced.
