Hey!
so my website homepage got dmca taken down by google. The traffic that I got from that keyword was a lot but because of the DMCA takedown I'm not ranked on the keyword anymore. Any ideas or tips that I can do to make my homepage different/get ranked on google again?

don't really want to reveal the keyword because it would reveal the site (as the domain is just a .com of the keyword)

There's no way to fix it. Maybe you should find another traffic source or try ranking for related keywords

If you have some rights to the content - appeal that DMCA.
If not - move to another domain.

It is dmca removal from google search result, you can buy another domain name and redirect 301 your old domain to new domain your rank will stay the same.

change to subdomain and re-index the whole website.

http://www.domain.com
ww1.domain.com
OP Did you try this..? Did it work.? I have the same issue as you.. am thinking redirecting non www to www

DMCA removes website only when you copy some copyrighted content otherwise i think you can appeal.

If you want to go with same proccess you need to safe from DMCA. That's why I suggest you yo go with DMCA ignored hosting. It's safe from suspension from google report. Otherwise you need move new domain and take redirect for link Juicy and traffic too.

That is not how 'DMCA ignored hosting' works with Google. At all. 'DMCA ignored hosting' will ignore any DMCA copyright infringement report that THEY receive, whereas if Google receive a DMCA report and rules in the complainant's favour then the reported listing is simply suppressed from the search results. No sort of hosting package will protect you from this, the only thing that will is to not infringe copyright in the first place.

OP has not mentioned whether they were hosting copyrighted content or not. I suspect they were. You can remove the content in question and appeal the decision here: https://support.google.com/legal/contact/lr_counternotice?product=websearch

Change the homepage URL to something like /homepage, /home, homepage-1, etc...
Just keep going this way, there's nothing much to do if you're publishing DMCA protected content
