Yes, I fully understand that.

I was only either enquiring or simply asking if this was going to be available at a later date as either a plugin or script.

Would be willing to pay.

If it isn't then fine.

:)

I have my own DS.

Maybe... depends how quickly this explodes.

Just outta curiosity, will we be able to submit a feed or a single link?

Excellent work btw

Awesome work MK, just stumbled across this thread this morning and looks like you guys have taken identi to another level.

Ive been posting to them for a while now, but all manually and with twitter feed, but with your script this saves so much time. Thanks for the amazing work.

Same here with the cron jobs, but im def. going to have to research more on them. Seems the right direction to go with this.

Very interested to see what you have in store.

Who ever suggested OpenID deserves a pat on the back (sorry can't remember and don't wanna backtrack).
-Grab yourself an OpenID
-Use the login with OpenID to the list given in previous posts
-It creates a account with your usual nickname/user name
-Rememeber to change the password (well your really adding one).

Soooo much easier this way.....now if there was a way to goto the login option each time, hit a accept agreement check box and then goto account >>password and fill in 2 fields this would be done and dusted......yes I'm asking if anyone has an answer for this :D

spaceinvader, what footprint did you use to scrape your list of 1073 URLs? I checked about 30 random URLs and only 1 was using the Status Net platform.
there are loads of good sites in the list mate, just gotta dig a bit. i will try and clean it up tho :)

i am going to use:

"is a microblogging service. It runs the StatusNet microblogging software"
"is a microblogging service brought to you by"

last time i used another search that i think polluted the result, if anyone has any suggestions of other footprints dont be afraid to post them :D

Hi moronic_kaos,

Thanks alot for the script, it's working good for me.
Do you put it to randomize one URL out of all the URLs we put it?
Should we make a loop and post to all the Statusnet URLs?

Second thing is, can we post the RSS feed instead of a link?

I'm guessing these things are going to get spammed and flooded so fast that they will all be tagged as link farms and have their outbound links devalued in no time. Am I missing something here?

hmmm been registering like crazy and can see that some of worst fears are already been done. confesiune.com is a spam fest. ok gonna really look at what i'm registering :)

Well, b4 everyone gets too carried away with this just remember having links from the same domains to the same site is only going to have so much value. I mean, having thousands of links from the same group of 50 (or however many accounts you create) is not going help much one you get past the first couple of links from each of the statusnet sites. If it were THAT easy to do everyone would have a linkfarm out of all their own domains.... The idea sounds alot better than it really is IMHO. I mean it WILL help all your posts get indexed fast probably, but having the same 50 sites linking to every one of your posts on some autoblog is going to be a pretty heavy "LINKFARM" signature, especially if you don't randomize the titles, but hey... yall go ahead and run with it, just do so after thinking it through a little bit... If you need 50-100 backlinks then this not a bad way to get them, but getting 50-100 from the same domains to EVERY SINGLE ONE of your posts has the potential of getting you deindexed pretty quickly if you ask me.

There is ALOT of value here hidden just beneath the surface with this idea, but you're going to need to think outside the box a little (like everything else). I gave +rep to the OP because this WAS just what I was looking for but not really in the way it seems. Sorry, I am not as generous as the OP I guess but I'm keeping a lid on my twist to this because this will get destroyed in no time by being this public and generating this much interest already. I was sorta hoping this thread would end up burried somewhere but I don't think that's going to happen unless they move it to JrVIP (which I recomend)

Anyway, thats my 2 cents... just be careful folks and don't over-do it.

For those of you who wanna load a list from txt files you can use
Code:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/6321

Hold ctrl and keep pressing next to open in more tabs

this looks like a great thing to implement, but as a noob i'm confused on the last step on twitterfeed. i signed up on status net but i never got a username or pw. how do i fill out the given fields in that section?

UPDATE:

Anyway, I'm about halfway done with the new server script. I stripped the Twitter function from it to make it a little less complicated, and here's what I've done to it so far:

  • Created the user account system, which keeps track of the username/password you guys use to post via an API key & MySQL
  • Added the ability to choose which RSS feed to post
  • Added a post limit (there's a 2 minute waiting period per account between posts, I'll see what happens & adjust so I don't overload the server)
When you guys run the script (from cron or browser), it will look something like this:

Code:
http://statusmass.com/post.php?api=490292&rss=http://yoursite.com/feed/rss2/
You'll be able to configure individual cron jobs for each RSS feed. That way, if you want more site more popular than another you can update it more often, and you won't have to register each RSS feed with my server.

I've still got a lot to do though:

  • Fix the error messages (make them clean)
  • Create a way for you guys to upload a .csv file with the servers you've signed up to. It'd just make handling massive quantities of them easier.
  • Make a small script to change your username/password (in case you start getting banned or something, and so I don't have to do it)
  • Make it look nice :)
There's also going to be a reporting system that will display the last 50 or so servers you posted to and what RSS feed you used. You could access it like this:
Code:
http://statusmass.com/post.php?api=490292&report=yes
or something like that

A lot of them were already spammed to begin with. Remember, these aren't twitter sites, and not meant for communication. They're purely meant for links or "status updates".

You're right, this is not a guarenteed SEO approach, but it helps. Think about it this way though, it's based on a random system (thanks to Subject's script). So you'll end up with some links on some sites, and some on others, over whatever period of time you choose. If that doesn't look natural to Google than I don't know what does.

don't you share script ?

I removed the script from this thread in order to prevent too many people from abusing it.

I would think so too, but take a look at identi.ca. That's spammed to all hell and it still gets a site indexed in no time.
